Travel to Grasmere by road
Grasmere’s location at the heart of the Lake District means that it is some distance from the motorway. Nevertheless, you can be in Grasmere within about 45 minutes of leaving the M6. Exit the road at Junction 36 and follow the A591 for around 20 miles. After this, you’ll pick up signs for Grasmere and the local road network will take you right into the heart of the village. If you’re not familiar with the local area, we’d highly recommend that you take a little time to plan your route in advance.
The AA Route Planner will help you to do this.
