Travel to Ravenglass by road
Getting to Ravenglass in your car can be a relatively lengthy process, but the journey is picturesque.
Most visitors arriving from Scotland or the south of England will take the M6 motorway and leave at junction 36. From there, follow signs along the A506 to Barrow and then Whitehaven.
You should find yourself arriving in Ravenglass around an hour after leaving the motorway.
If you’re not familiar with the local area, then we’d recommend usingĀ AA Route Planner to plan your journey.
Travelling to Ravenglass by train
Ravenglass has its own station on the Cumbrian Coast line, served by hourly trains from Carlisle. The journey is a fairly long one along a slow railway with multiple stops. There is no service on Sundays and there can be fairly long gaps between trains during the afternoon, so it’s well worth planning your journey in advance.
The line is also sometimes closed for engineering works at weekends or late in the evening.
