Travel to Sandown by road
For those travelling to Sandown by car from the North East, follow the M1, turn off on to the M69, then the A46 and, from there, join the M40.
If you are travelling from the North West or Scotland, take the M6 (includes a toll), join the M42 and then the M40.
When on the M40, on either route, join the A34 before finally joining the M3. From here, follow the signs to Portsmouth and then take the car ferry to Fishbourne. From here, Sandown is a short 20-minute drive via the A3055.

Travel to Sandown by train
Getting to the Isle of Wight via rail is fairly simple from anywhere in the UK. Book your travel plans to Portsmouth where you can access the “Fast Cat” catamaran foot passenger ferry to Ryde. There is a rail station at the port connecting to Sandown rail station.

The closest port to Sandown is Ryde, which can be accessed via car ferry from Southampton. Alternatively, you can take the ferry from Portsmouth to Fishbourne.
