Travel to Shanklin by road
For those in the North travelling to Shanklin by road, there are a number of routes via the M40. From the North West and Scotland, take the M6 (includes a toll), join the M42 and then make your way onto the M40.
From the North East, take the M1 to London, turn off at the M69, take the A46 and then join the M40. When on the M40, connect to the A34 before joining the M3. Follow signs to Portsmouth and take the Portsmouth car ferry to Fishbourne.
From Fishbourne, you’ll need to travel South for around half an hour, via the A3056.

Travel to Shanklin by train
To enjoy the scenic route, travel to Shanklin by rail. You can secure rail tickets – including ferry travel – by buying a through ticket to Shanklin. Change for the passenger ferry at Portsmouth, then resume your journey upon arriving at Ryde by travelling to Shanklin terminus.

Take the car ferry from Portsmouth to Fishbourne or, if travelling from Southampton, you can hop on the car ferry to Ryde.
