Travel to Ventnor by ferry
If you’re wanting to use the car ferry, choose from Portsmouth to Fishbourne (Wightlink, 45 minutes), Southampton to East Cowes (Red Funnel, 1 hour), or Lymington to Yarmouth (Wightlink, 30 minutes).
Foot passenger ferry services to the Isle of Wight have been designed to correspond with rail and bus timetables. Travel from Southampton to Cowes (Red Funnel, 25 minutes), Portsmouth to Ryde (Wightlink, 22 minutes) or via hovercraft from Southsea (Portsmouth) to Ryde (Hovertravel, 10 minutes).

Travel to Ventnor by road
To Portsmouth: From London, take the A3(M). From the North, take the M27/A27. If heading from the West, take J12 of the M27 for the M275. If approaching from the East, head down the M275.
To Southampton: From the North, London and Home Counties approach via the M3, M27 and A34. From the west, follow the A36. From the East, leave at J8 of the A27/M27.
Coach travel to both Portsmouth and Southampton is also available and it is possible to purchase ‘all-in-one’ tickets. These include coach, ferry and bus services to and around the Isle of Wight.

Travel to the Ventnor by train
Excellent rail links exist to all the main ferry ports. Travel from London is less than two hours. It is possible to purchase ‘all-in-one’ tickets.

Travel to Ventnor by plane
Heathrow and Gatwick airports provide rail connections to the port towns. Whereas both Bournemouth and Southampton regional airports have shorter connection times.
