Our County Sligo Travel Guide includes… Places to stay, things to do and how to get to County Sligo
County Sligo is located in the North West of the country and is home to Benbulbin, one of Ireland’s most iconic landmarks. Part of the Dartry Mountains, the Benbulbin occurred from rocks forming millions of years ago and is dubbed the county’s ‘Table Mountain’. The rugged landscapes and beautiful coastal views make the county an ideal rural escape.
Much of the county is unspoiled and therefore remains steeped in its historical past. The towns and villages in County Sligo offer a bucolic setting and a more tranquil atmosphere compared with the larger, more populated counties.
Traditional music, however, is still a central feature in many of the country pubs, adding a touch of alluring pleasure for all visitors. The beaches that line County Sligo’s stunning coastline are renowned for their great surfing options, with a great deal of surf schools ready and waiting to teach anyone who may be interested.
