Wirksworth is a fantastic tourist destination in the UK, with an array of attractions to visit and things to do throughout the year.
There are plenty of things to do in Wirksworth and the surrounding area. Go for a scenic walk or bike ride around the circumference of Carsington Water, a popular beauty spot that also offers a wide variety of water sports as well as an adventure playground for kids. Alport Heights is another beloved picnic spot offering fantastic views of the surrounding scenery from the summit. An interesting attraction near Wirksworth would be Richard Arkwright’s Masson Mills, a working textile museum, shopping village and exhibition centre.

Offering activities such as kayaking, sailing, cycling, fishing and windsurfing, there is plenty to do at Carsington Water, a large reservoir opened to the public in 1992.
Reaching 9-miles in length, the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway is a heritage line working between Wirksworth and Duffield.
Masson Mills are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Derwent Valley Mills, built by Richard Arkwright in 1783, it is now a museum, and shopping village with conference facilities.
