Carnewas at Bedruthan Steps
A legend dating back to the 19th century suggests that the beach stacks at Bedruthan Steps were laid by a giant named Bedruthan to cross the bay. The name Bedruthan Steps was first recorded in 1847 and seems to reference the original cliff staircase, it has since been applied to the beach as a whole and its intriguing stacks.
The steps to the beach are currently closed due to rock fall but the best views are from the clifftops above. There are several walking trails to follow along this coastal path ranging from easy to moderate and each offers visitors a glimpse of the steps, stacks and breathtaking shoreline.
