Compton Castle

Compton Castle dates back to the 12th century, when the Compton family bought the land it stands on. Over the past hundreds of years, the family has added an array of extensions to the manor, turning it into a castle.

The National Trust have made it possible for the public to tour Compton Castle and its impressive grounds. The medieval kitchen, sumptuous Great Hall and the defence towers are a few highlights of the building itself.

After touring the magnificent property, why not head out to the stunning garden? Here, you can unwind in an array of lawns, blossoming orchards and a rose garden.

You can make exploring Compton Castle’s garden fun for the little ones, too! The National Trust provide directions for a nature spotter trail, where you can unlock your inner adventurer. Medieval costumes, lawn games and picnics are other lovely family activities you can enjoy here also.

A historic outing with plenty to experience awaits at Compton Castleā€¦
