Easedale Tarn
Start the walk in Grasmere village at the entrance to Allan Bank. Follow the road from the village to the cattle grid and then go over the grid. Turn off the main driveway and take a path to the right, signposted for Goody Bridge.
The path winds through farmland and past the Glenthorne Bed and Breakfast, going through the kissing gate to the left of it. Follow the enclosed path, passing two gates, to the end of the road where there is a gate. Go through the gate and turn left.
Follow the road until you reach a footbridge on the left. The footbridge is signposted to Easedale Tarn. Go over the footbridge. Follow the path through the wooded area on the other side and then go over the stone bridge. Follow the path straight ahead from the bridge until you reach a gate. Go through the gate and follow the large clear track ahead.
Keep following the track, passing a stone bridge to your right, until you have a wall to your left and beck on your right. Keep going until you reach a gate at the end of the path. Go through the gate and over a flat stone bridge. Take the left fork at the path ahead.
Follow the path as it winds up Sourmilk Gill and to the base of a waterfall, here you can take time to paddle in the water. Keep following the path past the top of the waterfall where it levels out.
Keep following the path over the ridge and you’ll soon see the tarn ahead. The path winds down to the edge of the tarn where there are plenty of picnic spots to enjoy a well-earned rest. Return the way you came.
