In the shadow of Edinburgh Castle in Old Town are the winding streets of Grassmarket. This area is home to pretty, terraced buildings hosting a selection of local businesses.
The cobbled streets weaving thorugh are home to Edinburgh’s infamous past. You can learn of the area’s ghosts and the historic executions by embarking on one of the guided tours available.
The area also inspired the Harry Potter books, with its buildings sharing likeness to Diagon Alley’s and Hogsmeade! Candlemaker Row embodies these Harry Potter locations whilst being home to Greyfriars Bobby.
After soaking up these sights, explore the area’s weekly market, which is open on Saturdays. Here, you can buy local wares and sample mouthwatering pastries!
