Great Shunner Fell

Want to climb one of the highest peaks in the Yorkshire Dales National Park? Look no further than Great Shunner Fell. Standing at 2,349 feet, this mountain is guaranteed to be a challenge whilst boasting panoramic views of the surrounding park.

Great Shunner Fell is the third-tallest peak in the park, after Whernside and Ingleborough. Despite this, it only falls short of Ingleborough’s height by approximately eight metres!

There are many ways to access the fell, with the most common being via the Pennine Way. To do this, you’ll need to start south from Hardraw before embarking on a 4.5-mile hike towards the summit.

When reaching the summit, you’ll be amazed by the sights you can behold. You can spot the picturesque North Pennines, the Three Peaks, and even the Lake District!

Keep your eyes peeled for pieces of coal peppered around the summit. This is due to coal mining taking place here until the late 19th century.

A stunning hike awaits at Great Shunner Fell…
