Harlech Beach
More than just a spot for sunbathing and swimming, there’s plenty to explore at Harlech Beach.
The beach is backed by grassy dunes and the north end of the beach is part of the Morfa Harlech National Nature Reserve.
During the warmer months, leatherback turtles migrate to Harlech to feed off the abundance of jellyfish.
While the waters here are clear and generally safe, swimmers are advised to watch out for jellyfish.
There is no lifeguard stationed here and so swimming is only advised for confident swimmers.
Around 100 metres from the beach is Harlech Castle, a 13th-century structure used as a stronghold by Edward I.
The castle played a key role in The War of the Roses and the English Civil War. The castle is open to visitors.
