National Trust – Knightshayes Court

Knightshayes Court came to be in the 19th century, when it was built for Sir John Heathcoat Anthony, the former MP for Tiverton. The house belonged to the family for 125 years, before being opened to the public by the National Trust.

After admiring the Gothic exterior, make your way inside the historic wonder to uncover an array of sumptuous interiors. The first of these is the great hall, where you can spot medieval decor throughout.

The library is another highlight, with rare books peppered throughout. Continue into the drawing and morning rooms, where you can see how the family would’ve relaxed and spent quality time together.

Once you’ve toured Knightshayes Court, make your way to the gardens. The first of these is the kitchen garden which stretches over two acres and boasts 102 varieties of tomatoes.

Continue into the formal and woodland garden, where picnics and beautiful strolls can be enjoyed.

More strolls can be embarked on through the 250-acre parkland and woodland. There are two trails you can try, all of which are dog-friendly and boast beautiful views.

Complete your visit to this historic gem by stopping at the Stables Café for a bite to eat. A variety of traybakes, cakes and pasties are just a few of the delicious treats to try.

A marvellous day out with so much to do awaits at National Trust – Knightshayes Court…
