Llanfair Slate Caverns
Enter cavern one through the impressive entrance and enjoy the last streams of sunlight before descending Jacobs Ladder into the fascinating underground world of Llanfair Slate Caverns.
You’ll be provided with a torch and helmet for your self-guided tour through the mountains. The mines have stayed just as the workers left them and you’ll find plenty of scars and holes from their tools in the rock. As you emerge from the caverns, you’ll find breath-taking views of Cardigan Bay.
You can look down at Shell Island and the Artro Estuary and, at low tide, trace the fourteen-mile causeway of St Patrick. Tours of Llanfair Slate Caverns are dog friendly.
