Lloyd George Museum
David Lloyd George was prime minister of the United Kingdom from 1916 to 1922, leading Britain during the first world war.
Amongst his achievements were the introduction of social reforms such as old age pensions and unemployment insurance and having a major hand in the peace negotiations following WWI.
Based within his childhood home, where he lived between 1864 and 1880, the Lloyd George Museum showcases working-class life in Wales during the late Victorian era. You can see the desks of Lloyd George and his brother William and a recreation of the shoemaking workshop where his uncle worked.
A short and picturesque riverside walk will take you to Lloyd George’s grave and you can continue the walk in a circular path to Ty Newydd, Lloyd George’s last home, and back around to the village of Llanystumdwy.
The village sits on the Afon Dwyfor river in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, there are mountain and coastal views in every direction.
