This spectacular Cornwall walk takes in some of the finest sights along the Polperro Heritage Coast, while also being wrapped in a far-reaching and compelling history.

This remarkable part of Cornwall boasted trading links with the Mediterranean in prehistoric times, and you will also pass the ruins of an early Christian medieval chapel – promising an outdoor experience never to forget.

Directions

  1. Walkthrough Polperro from the Crumplehorn car park and follow the ascent of the South West Coast Path on the north side of Polperro Harbour. Carry on past the harbour mouth and around The Warren.
  2. Head on round to the coastal hamlet of Talland, where a detour leads you around the clifftop, then continue along the coastal path which runs beside the idyllic bay.
  3. Turn right onto a path heading towards both Hore Point in Hindersick and Looe itself. Hore Point leads you on a magnificent leg of this Cornwall walk, taking in the beauty of both Talland and Portnadler Bay.
  4. Carry along the coastal path looking out towards Looe Island and pass through a gate leading you to Hannafore Road. Follow the trail above the beach which curves around the harbour mouth.
  5. Continue along the banks of the East Looe River until you reach the Looe Community Fire Station, from which you can get the bus back to Polperro, or choose to explore this marvellous seaside town in all its glory.
