National Trust – Penrhyn Castle & Garden
This vast neo-Norman castle, built between 1820 and 1837, resembles something straight from the pages of a fairy tale.
Surrounded by 60 acres of garden and woodland and views of Snowdonia, Great Orme, and Puffin Island, the location is as stunning as the building itself.
The castle was built by architect, Thomas Hopper, giving it a neo-Norman style and featuring fantastical beasts, faces and patterns.
Local craftsmen created furniture from oak, ebony, marble, and even slate from Penrhyn quarry.
The castle also houses an outstanding collection of Dutch, Venetian, and Spanish paintings. Artists include Canaletto, Rembrandt, Wouwermans, Ruijsdael, Belotto and Palma Vecchio.
Outside, you can discover woodland, parkland, and a ruined chapel. Follow trails around the estate and discover the wealth of wildlife habitats as you go.
National Trust – Penrhyn Castle & Garden is a superb day out…
