This idyllic Pen-y-Ghent walk begins in Horton in Ribblesdale and visits the beauty of both Pen-y-Ghent and Hull Pot.

This Yorkshire Dales walk is ideal for bringing along your canine companion, as well as for those seeking a challenge with a moderate scramble at the end of the route.

Surround yourself with the scenery of the Yorkshire Dales National Park from the peak – making the scramble well worth the effort.

Please note: You may encounter livestock on this route. Please keep dogs on leads when approaching.

Directions

Begin your journey at the Horton in Ribblesdale National Trust Car Park before making your way out the entrance and onto Horton Scar Lane.
Take the first right and follow the path around until you reach the Horton Beck.
Continue along the route with the Horton Beck on your left until you arrive at Brackenbottom.
Once at the centre of Brackenbottom, follow the walking trail to the left, continuing before taking the second route on the left.
Carry along this route, baring left when you can, until you reach Pen-y-Ghent.
From Pen-y-Ghent, follow the Pennine Way. After 0.6 miles, turn left to stay on the Pennine Way. Continue for 0.9 miles.
After 1.1 miles, turn right and continue along the road for 0.2 miles to reach Hull Pot.
From Hull Pot, follow the straight road of the Pennine Way for 2 miles to bring you back to Horton in Ribblesdale.
