Penlee House Gallery and Museum
Built in 1865, Penlee House was once a gracious Victorian home that now houses a museum and gallery that celebrates the area’s unique cultural heritage incorporating the historic collections of Penzance Town Council, Cornwall Council and Newlyn Art Gallery.
The gallery has a programme of exhibitions that showcase the skill and craftsmanship of painting in West Cornwall in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The art collection has a permanent collection of paintings from the renowned Newlyn School and Lamorna artists.
The museum collections span 6000 years and include a newly refurbished social history gallery that houses a wealth of artefacts covering the unique heritage of West Cornwall.
After exploring the museum and galleries, visitors are welcome to enjoy light lunches and homemade cakes at The Orangery Café. With a terrace overlooking the park, it’s an idyllic spot to refuel.
