Plas Yn Rhiw

This house was originally built in the 17th century but was remodelled and enlarged in the 19th century, transforming it into the country manor has seen today.

Plas yn Rhiw was later abandoned before being acquired by the Keating sisters and their mother.

The building was in a bad state of disrepair and the sisters worked hard to restore it along with the garden.

They were passionate supporters of the Council for the Protection of Rural Wales and other conservation organisations.

The sisters later donated the property to the National Trust in the 1980s. The house today remains exactly as it was when the sisters left it.

Inside you’ll find artwork by one of the Keating sisters, furniture, clothing, china and other items from the 1930s when they purchased the property.

The ornamental garden boasts stunning coastal views and is surrounded by woodland, meadow, and orchard, making it a fantastic place for walks. There is also a tearoom offering light bites, cakes, and refreshments.

Come to Plas Yn Rhiw on your next visit to Wales…
