Pontcysyllte Aqueduct
UNESCO has described this Wrexham attraction as a masterpiece of creative genius and it is little wonder why!
Come here to enjoy 11 miles of stunning canal and countryside, spanning England and Wales, along aqueducts, tunnels and viaducts.
Pontcysyllte Aqueduct is an example of an outstanding piece of industrial and engineering heritage, comprising of an 18-arched stone and cast iron structure. Famously, is it the longest aqueduct in the UK and the highest canal aqueduct in the world!
It was built for use by narrowboats, however, a footpath runs alongside the watercourse on one side.
If you do wish to explore the Llangollen Canal by boat, there are five companies based within the World Heritage Site, which offer boat trips or hire canal boats!
After admiring this feat of architecture, find a spot for ice cream or head into the nearby town of Llangollen.
Visiting the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct is a great thing to do in Wrexham…
