Portmeirion Village
Built by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis, Portmeirion is thought to be one of the most successful architectural projects of the 20th century. This coastal village is based around a central piazza that wouldn’t look out of place on the Italian Riviera.
Created with an eco-friendly approach, buildings and artefacts from around the world were transported to Wales where they were used to create the loggias, porticoes and houses seen at Portmeirion today.
But there’s more to Portmeirion than looks, with a spa, shops and award-winning restaurants awaiting visitors.
The 70-acre sub-tropical forest with its 20 miles of paths, hidden lakes and temples is also a highlight. Here you’ll find some of Britain’s largest trees, secret gardens, rare flowers and even a derelict castle.
Finish your day at Portmeirion with ice cream from Angel Ices Geletatia on the sand at Dwyryd Estuary and take in its stunning coastal views.
Come to Portmeirion for a lovely afternoon by the sea…
