This North Yorkshire walk enjoys a circular route taking you along the sublime coastline, from Robin Hood’s Bay to Boggle Hole. During this North Yorkshire walk you will be immersed in a mix of history and legend, with ancient rocks, Jurassic fossil and rock pools awaiting to be discovered.

During this walk you can stroll along the cliff tops or when the tide is low, walk along the glorious sands of the beach before returning along the old railway to your starting point.

A three-mile walk taking you across the North York Moors National Park’s coast, from the charming Robin Hood’s Bay to Boggle Hole.

During this walk you can expect to be immersed in a mix of history and legend, as well as glorious sands, impressive cliff tops, ancient rocks, Jurassic fossil and rock pools.

Directions

  • Leave the carpark and make your way up the steep road which will take you to the top of the bank, where the railway line arrived in 1885. From here, make your way down the road, with Beckfield, the old police station situated on your right.
  • After walking along this road you will eventually meet the sea and will discover the National Trust’s Old Coastguard Station on your right. At low tide, venture down the slipway and onto the beach
  • During the walk along the beach, you can look forward to discovering an abundance of fossils, ancient rocks and rock pools
  • At the end of the beach you will find an inlet called Boggle Hole, this was a place where smugglers landed their illegal contraband
  • From here, make your way back to Robin Hood’s Bay along the clifftops to truly soak up the endearing North Yorkshire views and soundtrack
  • Stay on the famous Cleveland Way and follow the signs back to Robin Hood’s Bay
