Ruthin Gaol
Ruthin Gaol is one of North Wales’ most fascinating places. The prison operated between 1654 and 1916 and housed men, women and even children within its walls.
Follow in their footsteps and visit the Pentonville-style cell block. You’ll see how the prisoners lived, from what they hated to the jobs they did and the punishments they endured.
You’ll also learn about the incredible Victorian heating, ventilation, and communications systems. From the Welsh Houdini to William Hughes, the last person to be hanged at Ruthin Gaol, you will find out about the individuals that served time here.
Ruthin Gaol is a superb attraction in Wales…
