Scarborough Art Gallery
This fantastic art gallery rests within a Grade II listed, Italianate villa. Offering those aged 18 and below free entry, you can easily make this a family outing!
There are three categories of collections on offer here, including a costume collection. During a tour of this collection, you’ll be able to inspect 19th and 20th-century clothing first-hand!
Additionally, a jewellery collection is available; here, you can admire Whitby Jet pieces alongside an anti-slavery brooch. The Clarke Charms collection is another highlight, with over 500 charms on display.
The Social and Local History Collections are ideal for anyone wanting to learn about the town’s past. Here, you’ll uncover the archive of the British Tunny Club.
Of course, no visit to the Scarborough Art Gallery is complete without viewing its masterpieces. A range of oil paintings are on view here, including those by John Armstrong and Richard Cosway.
Be sure to spot the wonderful sculptures, too! An array of bronze and marble monuments are available to view, including those by Lady Kathleen Scott.
After your tour of the gallery, why not venture to the shop to buy a souvenir? The Rotunda Museum‘s worth visiting; here, collections surrounding entomology and Jurassic geology await.
Be immersed in Scarborough’s gorgeous art collections during a visit to this gallery…
