Scarborough Castle
The ruins of Scarborough Castle enjoy captivating views of the Yorkshire coastline. After stepping through the gates, get an insight into the castle’s 3,000-year-old past.
When it comes to parking, there isn’t any available on site. However, the Castleroad and Quay Street car parks rest nearby and are a relatively short walk away.
The landmark is open on a daily basis between 10am-5pm, with the busiest times being between 11am-2pm. If you’re an English Heritage member, entry is free. If you’re not a member, prices for tickets range between £4.80-£9. Family tickets are also available and are between £12.90-£23.40.
If you’re coming with a canine companion, you’ll be happy to learn that Scarborough Castle is dog-friendly! Please remember that dogs must be kept on a lead here.
There’s plenty to learn about here, thanks to Scarborough Castle’s audio tour. This tour will take you on a walk through the castle and its interactive displays.
You’ll get to learn all about its significant eras, from an Iron Age Settlement, a Roman signal station to a medieval chapel. Today, you can climb to the battlement viewing platform for panoramic views of the coast, including the north and south bays!
If you want to enhance your historic visit, be sure to check out the nearby Master Gunner’s House. Here, you will get the chance to study an array of artefacts that were discovered during the site excavations.
