Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, Edinburgh
If you are an art lover, then this museum should be at the top of your Edinburgh itinerary. The Scottish National Art Gallery of Modern Art features Scotland’s finest contemporary masterpieces, and best of all, it’s free to visit!
As well as offering free admission, the gallery is very accessible. Wheelchair access, disabled parking and tours designed for families await here.
The family tours are sensory-focused and packed with things to do. The little ones get to be hands-on with a range of interactive activities while learning about modern art.
The museum comprises two galleries, Modern One and Two. The first of which offers access to a range of sculptures, including those by Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth.
After exploring the surrounding sculptures, step inside to uncover the gorgeous interiors and artwork. Highlights include ‘Lee Miller’ by Picasso and Matisse’s ‘La Leçon de peinture’.
Modern Two houses The Stairwell Project, an impressive, large-scale piece by Richard Wright. The recreated Paolozzi Studio also rests here, a recreation of the artist’s own workshop, offering an insight into his work.
After exploring these works, you can enjoy a tasty meal at Paolozzi’s Kitchen. Alternatively, you can head back to Modern One to tuck into a sweet treat at the on-site coffee shop!
Be amazed by the array of show-stopping artwork available at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art…
