Ty Hyll – The Ugly House Tearoom
Near the charming village of Betws Y Coed lies The Ugly House Teamroom, which is filled with history and mystery!
Despite the name, we at Sykes describe this Snowdonia attraction as either unique or charming. Nobody knows who built the cottage or when, but the property was bought by the Snowdonia Society in 1988 following its time as a tearoom, an antique shop and a tourist attraction.
It was rescued by the society from a very run-down state and transformed into a small visitor centre and offices for the team of volunteers.
Today, you and your loved ones can enjoy the beauty of the cottage whilst dining at Pot Mel, a quaint tearoom. Here, you can sample savoury dishes such as Welsh Rarebit, homemade soups or sandwiches made to order, using locally sourced bread from the bakery in Betws Y Coed.
Afterwards, explore the garden and woodlands that are open all year round. The woodland extends to about four acres, so you have lots to explore! Be sure to find a sunny bench in a peaceful spot and admire the soundtrack of the birds.
