Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway
Built in 1903, the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway linked farming communities with the market town of Welshpool.
The railway closed in 1956 but, thanks to a group of enthusiasts, it reopened and developed into the line seen today. Today, passengers can hop aboard the Llanfair steam train and journey over rivers, climb hills, and pass through farms and past points of historical interest.
A range of trips are on offer, including one-hour excursions for those short on time. If you’re looking to spend an afternoon relaxing on board, why not book an afternoon tea train?
The trip lasts approximately two hours and highlights include passing alongside the stunning River Banwy. You’ll enjoy sandwiches, scones, cakes and tea or coffee as you go.
If you’re visiting during the festive season, you can book a Santa or Mince Pie special and enjoy festive views as well as a visit from a certain someone in red!
Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway is a superb day out…
