Wheal Prosper Tin Mine
Wheal Proper is a historical landmark, situated high on the cliff tops that overlook Rinsey Cove.
It was a working mine between the years 1860-1866 and was intended to mine tin and copper from the Porthcew Lode. Today, you can admire the building’s most prominent feature, the 30″ pumping engine house erected on Engine Shaft. This was designed to pump water out of the mine.
Even today, the building is in excellent condition after being managed by the National Trust.
Visitors to this site can look forward to views across Mount Bay and down to Rinsey Cove. Walkers who are trekking along the South West Coastal Path can use Wheal Prosper as a spot to rest and relax with a bit of lunch. Whilst beachcombers can take the footpath down to the beach!
Come to Wheal Prosper for a scenic outing with loved ones…
