Y Ddol Uchaf North Wales Wildlife Trust Reserve
Wander through this former slate quarry, with only residual marl clay remaining to hint at its industrial past.
Today, the site flourishes with its patchwork of woodland, grassland, ponds, and river, each rich in wildlife.
The woodland canopy is made up of sycamore, ash, and willow while white and yellow flowers carpet the floor in Spring.
The marl clay present here helps to capture the rainwater and create ponds where three species of newt, grass snakes and dragonflies can be found. There is a circular path around the reserve for walkers to follow and is relatively flat and easy, although slippery after rainfall.
Dogs are welcome on leads.
Y Ddol Uchaf North Wales Wildlife Trust Reserve is a great North Wales attraction…
