  • "This is our 4th year at Hiraeth and it was a stunning as ever."

Always clean, tidy and you can't fault the location! One thing that's hit and miss is of the games equipment is there or not. Having recently replaced the table tennis net, it was a site for sore eyes, but then we saw the dart board was missing again. They are both a great addition when both are in play so would like to see them as a permanent feature. We can never fault the hosts though. Always there when required and are most welcoming. Highly recommended Nick L'Homme

  • "Beautiful isolated property with stunning views."

So isolated it didnt have privacy glass on the downstairs toilet or shower room. A lovely idea which we are used to as we live in similar property. Such a shame therefore to find the owners son has permission to plug his electric car into the charging socket on the outside wall. He has to walk past the toilet and shower room windows. To be fair he only used it the once leaving the car there for 24 hrs or so but we never knew when he would be coming to collect it or bring it again, so for us the splendid isolation stopped there and then. From then on we had the windows blinds down all the time. May seem petty to some but for us privacy is important. That aside, there is a lot of creaking and cracking as the underfloor heating comes on in the early hours. Didnt bother me much but light sleepers could find it a problem. Such a shame to write negatively about a most beautiful property, we holiday as often as we can now we are retired. we went the extra mile cost wise and did feel slightly let down. Despite all I've written we would recommend the place, the owners seemed helpful enough and the views are to die for.

Set in beautiful woodland with walks from your door. The children particularly enjoyed the table tennis and tennis court access. Amazing wildlife to see, Red Kite, hares, rabbits, deer, and numerous species of birds. A beautiful escape.

  • "I recently stayed at Hiraeth as a group of 8, we were a mix of 2 couples and 4 friends."

Many parts of the stay were fantastic, the building looks and feels lovely and it was extremely accurate to as advertised. The walks and surrounding areas are fantastic and a local town is a mere 15 minute drive away. There is a free tennis court 5 minute walk from the property and gorgeous views all around. The owner was easy to get hold of and answered any questions we had. This place would be a perfect stay for any large family groups or couples with children. Me and my friends got along fine but the few minor snags we encountered were with sound travelling through floors and walls very easily and the room with 4 single beds had limited storage to house the belongings of the 4 in it. This was easily sorted by the two double rooms sharing their storage space. I would recommend bringing some general commodities such as Sugar, extra bin bags and kitchen roll as we needed to purchase our own. After the great experience we all had we would happily return to Hiraeth for future holidays.

  • "We love Hiraeth so much, we've been back 4 times!"

It's always very well maintained and cleaned, with everything you need in the house. The one thing we miss is wi-fi, but with today's technology, you can use a mobile phone to piggy back through a laptop onto the TV. Sorted! The table tennis net was new, so we enjoyed yet another tournament there. Any questions you ask of the owners and they reply promptly with no hassle. I would definitely recommend it. We'll see you soon Nick

  • "Highly recommended - with a major caveat!"

While the setting is beautiful, the facilities excellent and brilliant opportunities for walking/nature watching, the continual intrusive creaking sounds so badly affected our sleep that it seriously affected our overall enjoyment of our stay. We would not have booked it for a winter break had we known.

  • "We had a lovely stay at Hiraeth, the surroundings, nature, and, walking trails around the cottage are truly wonderful."

I even saw a weasel in the table tennis room. The cottage is well kept & clean, some of the kitchenware had been used and put back uncleaned but I think this would be the doing of the previous guests with no fault to the hosts. My only real issue was the craking/creaking of the floorboards, which, particularly in the evenings, is extremely loud and frequent even if no one is present in the room. It sounded like someone was pacing around the bed and hallways all evening, as a light sleeper this was a huge problem to the point where we considered leaving halfway through our stay. After a few sleepless nights I tried turning off the heating throughout the whole cottage, this made a huge difference and the creaking almost completely stopped. We ended up only using the fireplace to keep warm, which works very well. I would certainly recommend staying here - but definitely don't use the heating.

  • "The cottage is set in the most beautiful countryside with the most amazing views."

There are many paths to explore and so much wildlife to see, if you are up early you maybe lucky enough to see the deer in the garden. The cottage itself is very spacious and feels very homely. We spent a lot of time in the kitchen sat around the beautiful handmade table. The games area kept my children entertained as there is no wi-fi but this is a good thing as we had quality family time. We did need to ask for directions to the cottage as the sign was hidden but glad we did as the person we asked was the person who built the cottage and it was great to hear about its construction. The owner is so lovely. We will definitely be returning.

The barn is full of character and charm, and the location is amazing. You can let your children roam safely and get close to wildlife. We saw hares run past the front door, and swifts nesting above the bedroom window. I had to work for a couple of days and had a great signal with Vodafone, so the lack of wifi was not an issue. We had a fantastic time and would love to come back.

  • "The location and views and availability of walks on your door step are fantastic."

The large well equipped kitchen and dining table was ideal for the family for eating and playing lots of games and chatting around. The upstairs wooden flooring creaked a lot which disturbed us and the beds were too soft for us personally but this depends on your own preferences. The wash basins were small and the taps are on the wrong sides and took a bit of getting used too, a bit querky. No Internet and poor signal, I didn't have an issue with that but I imagine a lot of others would. The only thing I wasn't happy with was the waste rules, I don't mind sorting and recycling waste but when I am on holiday I don't expect to have to carry waste to the main road or take glass bottles to the tesco bottle bank 7 miles away. Don't let these little niggles put you off because the view alone makes up for all this.
