  • "Lovely, atmospheric accommodation in a great location, an ideal base for coastal walks and relaxation."

The local shop and pub have ceased trading and the property listing needs amending accordingly. The property was very clean and comfortable, apart from the lounge furniture, as we both found the seating position too low. Facilities and maintenance were very good, although, a range of kitchen saucepans would have been preferable.

We really appreciated the generous welcome pack. It was a very good base to explore this interesting and under publicised area on our bicycles or, in the case of the unique Spurn Head, on foot. The swimming at nearby Mappleton was an added attraction!

  • "The Old Chapel is a lovely little cottage, clean, comfortable, welcoming and is in a good location for some great coastal walks."

Hornsea is only a 10 minute drive away and has a Tesco and some good restaurants and takeaways. The local pub has closed down and there isn’t a shop in the village but it wasn’t a problem for us. We had a wonderful week and look forward to returning.

A few books or magazines relating to the area would have been nice now that covid is behind us. We also would have liked a teapot and noticed there was no tin opener if you need one, but this is all nit picking. A lovely centre for vising the area. You have York and Pickering ( for the North Yorkshire Moors railway) within easy reach and Beverley was lovely. Bempton Cliffs for seabirds in the breeding season isn't far away. Wo.uld recommend

Stayed with our little dog and everything was perfect for a relaxing week within easy reach of the lovely Yorkshire Coast. Super comfy bed, fabulous bath and shower, exceptionally clean with everything you could want if you choose to make meals while staying there. Easy access to walking trails on the doorstep. Great information from the owner about all the eco friendly features in the Old Chapel. We had beautiful weather so had no need to use the logburner but always plenty of hot water whenever we needed it. Lovely welccome pack and card when we arrived which was very much appreciated. We had the best time and seeing the northern lights on my birthday was the icing on the cake. Would love to come back

Coukdnt make calls from the property as signal was si bad.had to go into hornsea to get a signal which wasn't good. Was a bit taken back by the instructions to strip the bed and out it in the bag for washing. At least it stopped short of expecting it to be washed. Also found it a bit off that we were supposed to pay to hear the property!! No need it was warm enough but found this pretty poor tbh.All in all the property was adequate but the points we have made were a downside and I'm afraid to say it's not a property we would come to again.

  • "We had a relaxing and pleasant stay."

The bed was very comfortable. The location was peaceful and convenient for Hornsea and the Trans Pennine Trail. An added bonus was the welcome pack which included a bottle of the local beer and a white wine. The accommodation was definitely value for money. In addition the owner's communication was excellent. It is good to note that to get the maximum benefit of the heating system and sufficient hot water in winter, the wood burning stove needs to be used. This incurs an additional cost of £5 per basket for the wood. Although this cost isn't necessarily unreasonable, it is best to know about it in advance. The Sykes description doesn't highlight this point.

People in the village friendly and helpful. Location is good , but not much to do when the weather not good( we had most days rainy) and we had our dog with us. We couldnt let dog run freely as there are roads all around village. So you need to take dog far away for good run( beach or bear Beverly). Apart from that nice place for quick recharrge. Thank you .

The complimentary welcome basket of beer and shortbread was much appreciated. The property was well presented, apart from a used dental flossing stick, which I came across in the right hand coffee table drawer in the lounge area, which reflects in my score for cleanliness.
