  • "Such a lovely little self contained property."

It was so perfect for our particular needs as we were having a 40th birthday celebration for a family member. Not everyone stayed at the site as a few family members live not far away, but for the rest of us (staying in lodge and 3 furnished belle tents) it could not have been better. Each tent has its own private outside area with barbeque so one night we put two together and cooked for everyone staying plus 7 family members who were not staying. At other times the family came diwn to the lodge to have breakfast and get tea, coffee etc. The lode itself is so lovely - a converted stble with lots of compact character. The bed and pillows etc were mega comfy and we had three great noghts sleep. The kitchen was well equipped with extra crockery, cutlery etc which was very helpful. There were books to read and TV towatch but we did not get time for these things, Re cycling facilties good and so much space for the little ones to run around in. Owners helpful but not invasive in any way. It was overall, SUPERB! Very very minor niggles - hob was a bit unreliable as sometimes lit but only limited rings. Shower extractor fan did not seems to work properly but these things did not, in any way, affect our stay. (If it did we would have mentioned it at the time so it could have been addressed) Also, on a side note - communication prior to stay was not very good with emails not answered ( I sent four on the same subject with no reply) and not always easy to get hold of anyone on the phone. As an ex glamping site owner I know the importance of good communication chanels prior to stay or pre booking. Maybe they have other jobs but needs to be addressed. Other than that, a bog THANK YOU AND WELL DONE. Lovely place

It is decorated and furnished to a very high standard, some beautiful wood frames for the lights and bed head. It has a very compact kitchen area but has everything you need to self cater. However the best part is waking up to the tranquillity of the countryside and watching the horses playing in the next paddock. Bliss. Thank you Lisa for making us feel so welcome.

  • "Very disappointed."

Car park full due to an event which went on with very loud music until 21:30, people were still leaving after 23:00 and as the bedroom backs onto the car park we were unable to retire. All rooms had a velux window in the roof with no blinds, so the bedroom was very light at 5:00 am. There was not anywhere to store food so had to leave it out which resulted in ants crawling over the work surfaces. The wet room was awful as it made the whole room wet so unable to use it without treading through in the water despite using the squeegy. The boiler was 5 feet from the bed and regularly fired up during the night. The teflon coating was coming away from the frying pan which made it unusable. Items in the rooms were dusty and had a lot off spider webs. As mentioned by others the plates are too big for the dishwasher. On the plus side it had good views and it was very quiet on the week days as we were the only guests. However with the road to the glamping pods etc going past the lodge I can imagine it could be noisy when these are occupied. Due to the inability to get proper sleep we decided to leave a day early.

Thank you for your feedback. Sorry you were disappointed. Who knew dance and yoga music was going to be so loud. Apologies. Most other comments I would have helped with if I had known. I do live on site and would have been happy to help. Lisa. Property Owner

  • "Lovely property, very tastefully decorated."

Loved the cozy rustic feel. Was well equipped and the little things had even been thought about such as sugar and oil left in the cupboard which was a lovely touch! Had a great washroom and very powerful warm shower (although the water heading towards the door is a little scary). There were a few little things like the windows were hard to shut and we couldn’t shut the bedroom doors but ultimately these didn’t really matter. However, there was a bigger issue and that was that the mattress was very worn in. It had 2 massive dips either side where people had been sleeping, and it had become so soft we’d hit the bottom of the mattress when we sat on it, and of course this wasn’t great for our backs. Despite this we had a lovely stay, everything felt great, homely, cozy, clean and comfortable and I would love to come back. If we plan to go to Chester again this is definitely where I’d stay. Was a lovely weekend away thank you.

Thank you for your great feedback. I replaced the bed and mattress, it definitely needed to be renewed. Property Owner

  • "The kitchen area is small with only the minimum of equipment for four visitors."

There is no storage facility for dry foodstuffs. There is a dishwasher but a note left that the 4 dinner plates prevent it from operating correctly making it a redundant facility. Perhaps it should be replaced with a small freezer and cupboard. The shower water does not drain away leaving the floor area awash. This is a comment also recorded by past visitors. There was some clean water leakage surrounding the toilet which we brought to the attention of the owner alongside the above points of view. On the positives - during the week we learned to live within the limitations of the above comments and now, knowing the set up, we would consider a return visit. The site has fine views into the distance and was calm and peaceful overnight even with other campers present. There was no wedding party while we were there. We slept comfortably and the wifi worked well.

Thank you for your comments. The listing does state it’s for three only. With just one bedroom and a sofa bed in the living area. More than three adults would definitely be too snug. Thank you. Lisa. Property Owner

Clean, tidy and with everything I needed for 2 separate stays there. It was only 15 minutes away from where I was working so very convenient. Very peaceful and picturesque (I went late October early November) Great kitchen facilities, superb wet room, all round good facilities, outside space looked lovely for summer stays. Although I never got the chance to meet the owner she was on the end of the phone, which was reassuring for me. Although the road leading to the property is an unmade road and bumpy in places, it is stated on the property details so I was aware (just take your time driving down the road) I would definitely recommend this place especially as a base for exploring the area as convenient to Chester, Liverpool and Wales.

The design of the Lodge itself and its stylish, comfortable interior were terrific and it was great to breakfast admiring the open countryside and the lovely horses. The bespoke fittings and furniture really make the place. It is a great base for exploring The Wirral, Liverpool, Chester, North Wales. It is a very roomy lodge. To really be nit picky the lack of freezer caught us out and we would have preferred that over the dishwasher, but understand this is a very personal choice. The boiler in the lodge seemed to have a mind of its own coming on and off at random times and as it was in the bedroom in a cupboard that didn’t close properly it disturbed sleep. However the wet room was amazing - king size bed so comfortable - overall let down by attention to detail - stacks of brochures in the drawer some 3 years old ! Welcome pack consisted of a small jug of milk ! We do appreciate though that due to Covid the owners have had and are still having a dreadful time with the loss if revenue from weddings etc.

The kitchen space is very small if you intend to cook from scratch - very little worktop space and the lighting not adequate in that area - we solved this by moving one of the standard lamps from the lounge area - otherwise you are cooking in your own shadow. Basic cooking implements supplied, 2 saucepans and one frying pan. The oven gloves were missing as were two dinner plates, but a replacements were quickly provided by the owner. No welcome pack at all. 1" of washing up liquid and 1" liquid hand soap left by the kitchen sink, washing-up sponge not new - these seem like false economies! Bed huge and very comfortable, lots of storage space and extra bedding provided if needed. The lounge area has a lovely view with fully opening doors, unfortunately it rained the entire week so we were unable to take advantage of this. Lounge has two sofas and lots of space to move around. WiFi excellent and TV with Freeview. Fantastic piece of wall art. There was a stag-party over the weekend, they were staying in tents further along - we heard nothing from them - but be aware that everyone who stays in their own tent or in the glamping tents has to walk or drive past The Lodge. Brilliant location for visiting Chester and lovely walks from the door.

  • "Your original description of the property described an idyllic location, but what you did not mention was that this was a glamping site that hosted Hen Party events."

The Lodge itself was in need of attention as some of the crockery was old and chipped and the dining chairs were rickety. To make matters worse, the calor gas supply stopped working during our stay which meant that we had no cooking facilities, heating or hot water during a rather cold period. An engineer was called in to solve the problem which was rectified within 24 hours. The outdoor seating patio area boasted weeds and cane patio furniture that was literally falling apart. As for the fabulous views, horse manure dumped to the left, horse manure in the paddock, insight, to the right just left to rot. Of course, once again there was no mention of horse and stables facilities on site in your description. Due to the state of the property and its surrounding areas we actually cut short our holiday and left earlier than originally planned. Disappointed is not the word to describe this property but the term 'a waste of money' is a more apt description. I suggest you do your property research more carefully.

Liverpool 17 miles; Manchester 36 miles.

Chester has quite rightly been described as 'the jewel of the North-West of England'. Perhaps the most fascinating aspect of the city is that within a very small area there is evidence of every period of history - from the old walls and amphitheatre of Roman times, through medieval churches, Elizabethan timber-framed townhouses and Georgian terraces, to Victorian restorations and 21st century architecture. The city has much to offer the tourist, including excellent shopping in and around the famous Tudor 'Rows' and lovely walks along the Roman Walls, beside the River Dee and through the picturesque Grosvenor Park. Explore Chester's beautiful medieval cathedral, visit Chester Racecourse or spend a day at the world renowned Chester Zoo. Further afield, the stunning Welsh mountains and coastline, the quaint market towns and villages of Cheshire and the Wirral Peninsula with its first class golf courses, are all within easy touring distance, whilst frequent rail services make Liverpool, Manchester and the North Wales coast readily accessible.
