  • "The Property advertises an electric charging point which it does have but it should state that this is only via a 13 amp socket it is not a type 2 Charging point so may not be suitable for all electric car owners and this was one reason why we booked the cottage as we wanted a car charging point which we wrongly assumed was a type 2."

The property itself was in a good location and had what was required but we felt could have really stood out with some better maintenance, as we were unable to open the bathroom and upstairs bedroom windows, previous comments in the visitors book mentioned this also so would assume that the owners would have taken this on board and had them fixed but clearly this was not the case. Also a dead Christmas tree was in the front garden presume from Christmas 2023 not something you would expect to still see there in mid October the following year. When we arrived the wall clock was not working so put a new battery in it and the standard lamp in the lounge area would not work as there was no bulb in it so we put a bulb in it. We did feel that when we left the cottage it was cleaner than when we arrived, with the exception of the oven which we were definitely not tackling but needed attention. Also some decoration was required as there were wide cracks from the bottom of the stairs to the top which had certainly not appeared overnight. It would also help if photos of the sitting area were on the website as we had no idea what to expect. It was good to watch the steam trains which run at the back of the property on a weekend and the wildlife that visited the stream at the back. The Co-op store and Spar shops are very close by and you are within easy reach of Hebden Bridge, Salts Mill, Skipton with many good walking areas.

Absolutely loved the steam trains passing by so close. Comfortable beds and lounge seating was great. Could have done with more dishes for veg/salad in the kitchen and if only there was a downstairs shower it would have made life soooo much easier but we had a lovely stay. A great little holiday cottage.

Peaceful sleep, oh yes. Visit the shops and your by train or bus as the countryside is picturesque. A great holiday. We will return next spring. Thanks to the owners of Chuffing Cottage for a lovely holiday. Oh that beck is so relaxing We witnessed the railway company put in place a new bridge..... what a highlight. Well positioned for Haworth village centre and great walks from the front door. Lovely pubs and shops a short walk away. We also enjoyed Hardcastle Crag and Hebden Bridge. And the Salt Mill. Brontë waterfall walk, the moors and so much more. Would highly recommend.

Beds comfortable. Parking right outside the property is a bonus. It’s a climb up to the main village but a detour through the park helps make the climb easier. Welcome pack was a real bonus, but there are no complimentary toiletries in the bathroom. (Shower gel, shampoo, conditioner)

The welcome pack was a lovely surprise. It is ideally situated within walking distance of the railway and main street, although we needed to drive being disabled, so the downstairs bedroom and wc were ideal. The owner was very helpful when we contacted her. There are lots of takeaways who will deliver and places to eat nearby. We will definitely book again.

It was very comfortable and well equipped and the welcome pack was greatly appreciated. The parking spaces were one of the reasons we booked this cottage. The steam trains were exciting especially a tour of the railway shed including the Flying Scotsman. The cottage is close to a supermarket and the village which has plenty of places to eat and drink. We would thoroughly recommend staying here and would love to return sometime in the future.

  • "Really beautiful and clean property in a great location in Haworth."

The heritage railway going passed the back of the house really did make it for us and if you are a train fan then this place really is for you. There are lots of hills to tackle to get up to the Brontë Parsonage and Main Street but also plenty of car parks around the top which are reasonably priced and there is a taxi firm on the housing development the house is situated on if you wanted to taxi up and walk back down. All in all, a fantastic stay and wonderful accommodation!

  • "We all enjoyed our stay in Chuffing Cottage immensely."

It is beautifully kept and very comfortable with all the amenities and equipment one could wish for including close-up views of the most fantastic steam locomotives. The electric car charging point was a real boon (standard 3kW 3 pin plug gave sufficient overnight charge for a day's touring). I would definitely recommend Chuffing Cottage to anyone wishing to explore the Yorkshire Dales and may well make a return visit.

See Victorian times come to life with back to back housing, mills etc House is well equipped with everything you would need on a holiday. Comfortable bed. Added bonus of the babbling beck at the back which can be heard with windows open and the welcome visit of a Heron! Must sees: Brontë Parsonage; Steam trains - Oakworth - where The Railway Children filmed; Shibden Hall; Hebden Bridge (great to go on the bus - TransdevGo app brilliant!); walk from Oakworth starion to Haworth also good. • "We had a lovely pre-Christmas stay at Chuffing Cottage and hope to return again soon!"

The modern cottage is located in a quiet residential development in Haworth and we were thrilled to hear and see a steam train go ‘chuffing’ by behind the house, within a few minutes of arriving! The excitement never wore off and we rushed to the window every time we heard the train coming - such a lovely treat for kids and adults alike! Well equipped, the cottage contains everything needed for a comfortable stay and we loved the beautiful welcome pack which featured some nice chocolate treats that were enjoyed by the children, as well as snacks, bread, milk and a bottle of wine; a very nice gesture to welcome visitors! Haworth Main Street with its quaint shops and eateries is only a short walk away - but worth noting it’s up a rather steep hill (as those who know the area will be aware: it’s all part of the charm). There’s a large ‘Co-op’ at the entrance to the development which is easily the size of small supermarket and can provide enough food and variety for a weekly shop on arrival. Inside, Chuffing cottage is much more spacious and attractive than the pictures on the site suggest, and the double height living area offers a lovely place to relax and watch tv. The property was warm, had plenty of storage space and also many towels etc available in the bathroom. We took advantage of a visit to the nearby Bronte Parsonage which is a lovely place to experience for those who have an interest in literature or history. We also went for a journey on the ‘Elf Express’ KWVR steam train and were joined by our family who live locally - for what turned out to be a fabulous Christmas treat! Overall the cottage was a fabulous base to visit our Yorkshire relatives and explore beautiful Haworth, and we hope to return again soon!

Although currently busy with building works during the day it is quiet and peaceful in the evening and night times. It is well situated to explore lots of interesting places in the local area and nearby Yorkshire Moors and Dales. The passing steam trains and babbling brook to the rear of the property adds to its charm. We were greatly impressed by the owner’s flexibility as we needed to change the dates of our stay at short notice and they accommodated our request without issue. About the location

HAWORTH

Skipton 13 miles; Hebden Bridge 8 miles.

The small village of Haworth was home to the famous Bronte sisters, who were inspired by the surrounding moorland to pen their novels, which have become classics of English Literature. Haworth is a village that time almost forgot, with its myriad of curiosity and antique shops, alleyways and cobbled streets creating a wonderful period atmosphere, all set against a framing backdrop of countryside famously described in the novel Wuthering Heights as wild, rugged and barren. Nearby, the famous Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, an authentic steam railway brought to prominence in the film The Railway Children, provides a lovely day out with a regular service to the old village of Oxenhope. The area abounds with popular places to visit, including the Bronte Parsonage Museum, East Riddlesden Hall, and the National Railway Museum in York. The market town of Skipton, often fondly regarded as the Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales, is just a short drive away, and also within reach are elegant Harrogate and vibrant Leeds and Manchester.
