  • "We wanted to visit the areas around Catfield (Battle, Rudyard Kiplings House, Bodiam Castle, Rye) and White Hart Stables was perfect for this."

There are dog walks nearby and we ate in the White Hart Inn next door on our first night (and every evening afterwards!) The food was really good and reasonably priced, with great choices and half price curries on a Monday. It is popular with the locals and so booking a table is a good idea. The cottage was very comfortable, with everything provided, and the reclining sofa and large bed were a lovely bonus! I've already recommended the cottage to friends and hope to visit again in the future.

CATSFIELD

Bexhill-on Sea 3 miles; Battle 3 miles; Hastings 7 miles; Eastbourne 12 miles; Lewes 20 miles

Catsfield in a rural, rustic village, scattered with several farms and cottages. Set in an ideal countryside location, perfect for walking, cycling and horse riding, with stunning views over meadows and fields. The village was first documented in the Domesday Book of 1086, where it was recorded that "there is a little church serving the hall", and is considered to be one of the oldest settlements in the area, with Romano British period archaeological remains. Catsfield is located in the Sussex Weald, within the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The church of St Lawrence dates back to Medieval times and is well worth a visit. With Battle only three miles away, a town that changed the course of English history, with its famous Battle Abbey, this is an excellent location. Explore its turrets and battle-grounds, lose yourself in history and sample delicious afternoon tea in one of the town’s many quaint tea rooms. Turn your sights to Bexhill-on-Sea and Hastings where you can indulge your desires with a wonderful range of shops and theatres, museums and experience marina life. Fishing boats leave the marina daily and return to sell their catch in the "Old Town", making Hastings a haven for fish restaurants. Why not join a fishing trip and try and catch your own? Perfectly placed, Catsfield is a quiet, quintessential English village with the splendid Suffolk coastline and countryside right on your doorstep.
