  • "This is an absolutely beautiful cottage; I would happily live there."

It has everything you need, including scales in the kitchen, which was fabulous for us. The host was friendly and polite, coming to check on us after an unexpected power cut on the first night. The beds were comfortable and everything was lovely and clean, thank you.

To the other side of the hallway, you will find a beautiful king-size bedroom sat adjacent to an attractive white and blue shower room.

The second king-size room can be found on the first floor, boasting a wonderful wooden sleigh bed.

Also up here lies an exquisite family bathroom, attractively tiled and featuring an elegant roll-top bath.

Completing the accommodation is a delightful dual-aspect sitting room that benefits from a Sky TV and an electric fire; reflect on the day's adventures in comfort while watching a favourite film.

Spacious grounds surround Bracken Holiday Cottage; appreciate the idyllic rural views while sipping an ice cold drink on the patio.

From your doorstep you can enjoy soothing walks through the forest and countryside nearby, while just one mile away is the glorious coast at Sandyhills.

Where you’ll be staying

DALBEATTIE

Castle Douglas 6 miles; Kirkcudbright 13.5 miles; Dumfries 14 miles.

The attractive country town of Dalbeattie nestles in the south west of Scotland. The town sits within a wooded valley on the River Urr and provides access to the picturesque Solway Coast with its miles of beaches and pretty fishing villages. Dalbeattie is originally known for its granite quarry, which exported stone all over the world, most notably for the Eddystone Lighthouse and Thames Embankment. Today it is renowned for its outdoor activities with the world famous 7stanes mountain biking complex nearby as well as forest walks in Glentrool, where you can follow in the footsteps of Richard Hannay in The Thirty Nine Steps. Dalbeattie and the surrounding area offer panoramic views of the Solway Firth, the Lake District and the Galloway Hills. A great location, which has something for everyone.
