  • "Our 3rd year running at Green Tor and it didn't disappoint."

It's in a perfect location for our early Christmas family get together. The house is so cosy and welcoming. It's just like home from home for us. We had a day at the Alpamare which has reopened this year and the kids loved the Santa train and feeding the squirrels in Peasolm park. All in all another successful year. The Docherty's

  • "Very tired decor."

Downstairs toilet has a picture on the wall which is covered in thick mould. Steps to back door became wet in driving rain and four of us slipped on them in the same place. I had the worst slip and ended up in A&E with a torn ligament and chipped bone in my left foot!! I’m now having to pay out a fortune to get someone to walk my dog not to mention the pain and suffering! They should put some anti slip surface down on the steps.

Very very sorry to here about your slip. This is the first incident we are aware of with these steps that have a handrail top to bottom but we will re access them in the near future. Property Owner

Perfect location. Thank you for the Prosecco, that was a lovely touch. Thanks for swift action on lack of knives, the cleaning manager was friendly and helpful and also provided an extra water jug. The cinema room really needs some ventilation. A few more seving/mixing bowls would be appreciated as well as some food basics such as salt. An excellent holiday for all 14 of us.

! Winter duvets provided for all beds even in summer, opening windows very few and far between so a good nights sleep difficult. Fan provided for one bedroom but others also need one. Only 3 beer glasses and three wine glasses available for a property which sleeps 14 people!!!! Waste water escaping from down pipes from bathroom and kitchen. • "Everything about Green Tor is great!"

The position within a five minute walk of all that the North Bay has to offer, the facilities at the house, the comfort and cleanliness are all five star. We were a family party of eleven ranging from 5 to 75 and there was something for everyone - even on the rainy days when the games room came into it’s own! We will certainly be back. Just one suggestion - we found we didn’t use the dining room for meals and the kitchen was a bit of a squeeze, so knocking through to make one big kitchen/diner would be a huge improvement.

  • "We had a fantastic weekend, the house was perfect for our family group of 13."

The highlight was the games room and hot tub which got lots of use. The bedrooms were good sizes and really comfy beds. Really well placed for North Beach amenities. Everything you would need. It would have been helpful to know about the coffee pod machine because we could have brought pods. I also feel it would have been really good to have dishwasher tabs available, there was one left which we used but it wouldn’t cost much for a few to be provided for guests. Lovely touches with 2 bottles of Prosecco in the fridge and hot tub towels ready in the games room. There was a leak coming from the house bathroom upstairs running down through the kitchen ceiling (where the pulley rack is situated) I noticed a recent review about the fact that the bbq should be replaced and when we were there we noticed 2 brand new BBq’s in situ- excellent. All in all a brilliant house for large groups, really well appointed and perfect location. I think checkout could be 11am though!

Thanks for the feedback We will have another look at the leek on next turn round. Property Owner

  • "This is our second visit to this property and we again had a lovely time, however there were a few things I would like to mention so the owners could make their holiday home perfect."

There were 2 pillows missing from a single bed on the top floor(although the pillow cases were there). One of the front bedroom ensuites needs the shower rail securing along with the sink tap. The family bathroom shower over the bath leaked during use and water came through to the kitchen underneath ( I contacted Oliver and left a message on his phone to let him know, he did not make contact to let me know he had received my call). There is damp along the outside wall in the front 1st floor bedroom and bathroom. There was only one key for the entrance into the back door which caused a problem if some of our party came in later. There was also only one remote for the 2 tv's. On the whole the house is lovely with great facilities including the hot tub and games/cinema room which we all enjoyed however I paid Almost £5000 pounds for a weeks holiday to find that I had to buy toilet rolls! This may seem petty but considering the amount of people using the house, 2 toilet rolls per bathroom is not enough!!

Thanks for the feed back we will take a look at the issues on the next turn round. Sorry i must have missed your call Property Owner

There were 7 adults and 6 children in our group and it suited us all. Kitchen very well equipped. Lovely large living room with plenty of seating. Games room and cinema room were great for keeping the kids entertained. Bedrooms all a reasonable size and comfortable. Property generally clean throughout. Only issue that was flagged was that the skylight in the top bathroom was leaking a bit when it rained. Locationwise, it's a 10-15 min walk to Tesco Express and a decent pub (Tunny Catch). Less than 5 mins to a One Stop. Right over the road from Peasholm Park (lovely place to walk around and has a cafe/pedalos). Less than 10 min walk down to the beach and to the North Bay Railway.

The house was extremely clean, the kitchen has every type of utensil you could possibly need, plenty of prep space and a table big enough for all guests to sit around and chat. The other areas of the house were equally as comfortable for us (9 adults & 4 children). The icing on the cake is the games/cinema room, adults & children loved it. The hot tub was excellent to chill out in, the addition of a shower room in the Games room was really convenient when using the hot tub ( better than trailing through the house dripping all over the floors) and great big fluffy towels specifically for the hot tub too. We couldn’t fault the house or the outside area and would definitely recommend to friends and family.

A pizza cutter would have been welcome and there was only 1 pizza tray. These are however minor points and did not detract from what is a fantastic property.

Brilliant location for local services, beach, park etc. The games room was great. We found the kitchen rather poorly equipped kitchen for the number of guests, including lack of basic cutlery like teaspoons and some crockery. Lovely grounds! Parking was a bit challenging on the long narrow driveway, with a lot of juggling of vehicles required. We were a little unsure about the upkeep/cleanliness of the hot tub. There also appeared to be some issues with damp in the property, and the gutters & drains could do with some attention. A little DIY attention to some little details like loose taps in en suite, mould, some curtains derailed, would make a massive difference. Also, we found an old cupcake case under one of the sofas so not sure how thoroughly the property is cleaned between visitors! But we enjoyed our stay and loved the location and the space available.

The kitchen however was in need of some updating and care ; decoration chipped some chairs needed mending and cooking facilities not really adequate for size of property. Similarly with the hot tub and games room, equipment broken, hot tub needed cleaning. We have not found the owners helpful at all, from initial booking to resolving item mistakenly left on the premises.

Thank you for your comments Barbara, I value all feedback as we want to ensure our guests have the best experience. The hot tub is cleaned and refilled on every changeover, I will look into the items in the games room which need replacing. Sadly as we don't live directly near the cottage, we had to wait for our cleaning team to retrieve the lost property. This has now been returned and will be with you shortly. We have an aga as well as a large oven that we have never had any complaints about in the past. Once again we thank you for your feedback. Property Owner

Access to the park, 2 minutes, beach, 5-10 minutes walk. With 7 large double bedrooms, 4 living rooms and 8 bathroom/toilets the house was plenty big enough for us 12. Hot tub was fine, but as the weather was lovely we didn't use it much. Parking is quite tight. Pretty garden with lawn/sitting out area. Not fully fenced. Equipment is sufficient for cooking and everything works. Lots of crockery and glasses. Big feature is the beach, quite close and very nice. Rock pools, warm lagoons, lots of flat sand and not too crowded. Swimming at high tide. The park has lots of attractions - dragon boats, pagoda, pitch and putt and a unique naval battle. Very pretty long glen. Castle is bigger than it looks, worth a visit. We visited Whitby but apart from that just enjoyed all the stuff in Scarborough.

  • "Fabulous property, just as described."

Sykes were easy to deal with. House was amazing! Beautifully appointed and decorated. So spacious, the hot tub and the snooker/darts/table tennis room really popular with both the adults and the teenagers. Great location next to Peasholme Park, twenty minute stroll into Scarborough. Would highly recommend.

  • "The house is very well equipped, very spacious, and spotlessly clean."

All bedrooms were decorated to a high standard, and beds were very comfortable. I have never slept so well on holiday! The kitchen was well stocked with crockery and cutlery, and everything worked. The only thing issue in the kitchen was the teapot, which pours all over the worktop, but this is only a minor complaint. The location of the house is superb, sitting next to Peasholm Park, and a 5 minute walk to the beach at North Bay. The road is very quiet, yet central and accessible.

  • "Absolutely fab and we've already booked for next year."

There was one problem which was quite inconvenient and that was the oven, only 2 burners out of the 5 worked and the oven took ages to heat and did not reach the temperature required which was a major problem for me as I was making a Sunday lunch for 12 people as a celebration of my son's 30th Birthday. Other than that it was lovely. I think it would be a good idea to have a list of recommended restaurants and place to go for Sunday lunch and 'recommended' take away. There were take away menus but the one we used was not very nice at all, this of course has no refection on the property but would be a bonus and nice touch if there were personal recommendations. Thanks

  • "Green Tor is a superb property with great facilities - only negative is cupboard space in the kitchen which is limited."

Apart from that small issue everything else was amazing. Plenty of space for a large family gathering and very clean and tidy. The hot tub, games room and cinema room were particular favourites for the family. Location was amazing being directly opposite Peasholme Park and a 5 minute walk to the beach. We would defnately recommend this property.

Everything you could wish for. Very spacious, all the bedrooms are great sizes, living room is such a sociable area with plenty of seating. Outside facilities are great, games room and the wonderful hot tub, didn't get a chance to use the cinema room but that looked amazing too. Would definitely recommend Green Tor.

The house is very spacious, provides everything you need... and more! It's a great place for families to get-together with a gorgeous garden and a long private drive for many cars. It is in a lovely location over-looking Peasholme Park and only 5-10 minutes walk from shops, cafes and the sea.
