"Cosy, clean and comfortable."
Has everything we needed for a stress free break. The rooms are spacious and the furniture and beds comfortable. Having a full sized dishwasher is a bonus. The house is a great place to arrive or return to after a long drive or days exploring. Quiet and peaceful locality with nice gardens. Easy flat walking distance to Chester or Bache Railway Station and easy access to shopping by car.
Thank you so much for your feedback it is always appreciated. We have a special thank you to this guest, their stay occurred during a very difficult time for our family and your kindness as well as the super clean and tidy way you left the property was so greatly appreciated. Property Owner

"We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at 45 Benton."
The combination of separate bedrooms and bathrooms upstairs and generous communal space on the ground floor suited our needs perfectly. The house is excellently located, being within a 10-12 minute walk of ALDI and Morrisons supermarkets (the latter being right next to Bache train station), just 15 minutes' walk to Chester itself and close to bus stops servicing Chester and Chester Zoo. The owners were welcoming and very responsive to our questions.
Thanks for your feedback it is always appreciated. We are so glad to hear you had a nice stay. Property Owner

"Overall an excellent place to stay with no major issues."
However there were, as ever, some minor ones, but nothing to detract from the stay. Here's a list of the things that weren't quite right. Could find no way of turning on the hob extractor. The en suite shower head fell off its holder a few times when mid shower. The television had sound but no picture. Again could find no way of making that work so used iplayer on my laptop instead. Lofs of plusses too though. The house is in a great location an easy walk from the centre of the city. Beds were very comfortable, the kitchen having a gas hob was a big bonus and the overall facilities provided had everything I expected. The garden was nice too. A very happy experience.
Thank you for your feedback and we are very glad to hear you enjoyed your stay. In regards to the shower head, we have looked to sort this and hopefully this will now longer be an issue. Regarding the extractor fan above the hob - this is actually built in to the unit but we appreciate it is probably not immediately obvious how to pull out, we will ensure details of this get popped into the welcome book for future ease. The TV has been checked and it does appear to be working although sometimes we appreciate the signal is not great - we have looked to improve the TV signal and hopefully this has addressed the issue. Thank you again for the feedback, we do appreciate it as it helps us to improve the property where we can. Property Owner

"On arrival at the property after a long journey we contacted the owner to advise 'all okay' after quick inspection."
However, the utility door leading to the garden was unlocked. The microwave was rusty. The toaster was dirty / rusty / burnt / plastic case melted. The kitchen sink tap was extremely loose. There was insufficient crockery and glassware especially if you wanted to make use of the dishwasher. The toilet in the family bathroom did not flush and the owner was aware of this as a laminated notice on the cistern gave operating instructions to 'pump flush button a couple of times to flush' which only produced a splash of water, not a flush. All taps were dirty at base and thick with limescale on taps themselves. Light fittings in both bathrooms were covered in thick dust. The grey hand towels from Morrisons smelt of machine oil as they had not been washed and were clearly brand new as a card label was left by a towel which stated 'wash before first use'. When adhering to instructions to strip bedding, the pillows were found to have no pillow protectors which would have prevented the brown stains on some of them. To say we were disappointed is an understatement as we thought we had found the ideal property to visit family in the area on a regular basis. This property is clearly unloved and uncared for which is a great shame.
Thank you for your feedback. We do like to hear all feedback from guests as this does help us to improve the property. Upon reading the same we would like to note as follows: In relation to the issue of the toilet 'not flushing'. We are aware of an issue with one of the three toilets in the property requiring a couple of pumps to flush. Whilst we do not agree the toilet mentioned does not flush, we have arranged for our plumber to look at this and he will replace the toilet if required. In respect of the kitchen tap, we do apologise for this and can confirm that this has now been tightened (albeit we do note that the tap was useable). In circumstances such as this, we are available to guests to contact at anytime if they have any concerns during their stay, albeit we note that these guests did not mention any of their feedback to us during their stay (and in fact we were not advised of any issues until several days post departure). We have noted that this tap has been replaced and tightened on several occasions during the last 12 months and we can only assume that some guests may be have been a little rough with the fixture. We do not agree that there is inadequate crockery in the property, however, we will ensure that this is checked again. We are mindful that whilst we do provide enough crockery for the number of guests, where guests break items and do not inform us, this is not always immediately noted. In relation to the dishwasher, this is provided as a convenience for guests. We do not agree that the microwave and toaster are rusty or melted. These are regularly inspected. Whilst these are cleaned after each guest, we can apologise if the guest felt that they were not adequately cleaned. When replacements are required will do action this as quickly as possible. The pillows are regularly changed and therefore pillow protectors are not used. We were not aware of any stains on these pillows, however, if there are now stains present we will look to upgrade them. We do not agree that the taps were dirty. If there were limescale deposits we do not agree that this is indicative of dirt. However, we will raise this to the attention of the cleaner. Furthermore, if there was dust on the lights in the bathroom we apologise and we will raise this to the attention of the cleaner. As per the above, we do welcome all feedback from guests and we strive to improve the property where possible. In respect of the cleaning, we do feel that this review is harsh, but we will still keep a check on the matter of cleaning. In relation to maintenance, we also feel that this review is a little extreme. We are mindful that from time to time things may be overlooked (such as the tap in this instance) and we are available to assist guests with any issues during their stay where they wish to advise us of any issues. However, we do not agree that the toilet issue is a fair comment. There are three toilets in this property, all flush, albeit one requires a couple of pumps. As per the above, we have a plumber attending the property this week to address this issue in any event. Property Owner

"A very wonderful stay, we highly recommend this property."
The property is spacious and well appointed. The location is also convenient, close to a large Morrisons with cafe, Bache station 10-15 minutes away and Chester city centre also a similar distance. Even still, the house is located on a quiet residential cul-de-sac type street and we did not hear any noise throughout the stay. We were originally booked to stay in the property for a week, but enjoyed our stay so much we extended our stay twice, ultimately staying a total of 3 weeks. Some wonderful touches as well - we stayed over the Christmas period and the nice Christmas tree was much appreciated. The hosts are very easy to get in touch with and remained in constant contact, including offering a change of linen each week after we extended our stay. We would be happy to return if ever in Chester again.
Thanks for your feedback, really glad you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

"The location is ideal for a 30 minute walk into Chester , a 10 minute drive to Chester zoo, a Morrisons about 5 minutes drive."
Lady who I spoke to was really nice and helpful and key arrangements all good. Parking on site pet and smoke free reason we booked this property. We’ve used Skye’s holiday cottages loads of time.BUT have to say although “surface clean “the house generally inside and out needs a thorough good clean. I’m certainly not knocking the cleaner who must go in inbetween guests probably on a time scale. How often is it deep cleaned. I have several photos that I’m happy to share with Sykes. You are promoting these properties and I do not feel this is up to scratch. Yes it is very dated that’s not the issue ,but cobwebs from kitchen light which is above dining table. The cobwebbed dirty door frame as you enter into a hallway with just a light bulb not even a shade on it was NOT a nice welcome. When was this property shown any TLC . Not expecting gleaming white eaves when you open bedroom windows BUT that amount of grime and cobwebs is years worth. The basic sinks fridge etc were clean I am just explaining how the aesthetics of the property are. Assume it was a property purchased to be used as a holiday let . Appears bare minimum has been done for eg. kitchen cupboard doors have been painted but not the plynths , inside the door . Like I say I’m happy to email you my photos to show the points I am raising. You are more than welcome to publish my feedback. The complimentary milk in fridge and tea and coffee was a nice gesture I’m not a clean fanatic but seriously expect better than this.
Thanks for your feedback. We take all feedback very seriously and do take onboard all comments. We can only apologise if there was a cobweb in the property, the property is cleaned thoroughly before and after each guest however on this occasion the duster must have not quite caught the cobweb in question. We do think that the comment regarding cobwebbed dirty doorframe (for which we have seen the photos) is a little harsh given that this is an outside entry door and whilst this is cleaned, it would be very difficult to keep pristine at all times. Similarly the comments regarding the eaves in the windows is again a little harsh as we do not feel that these are as bad as indicated in your feedback and again it would be difficult to keep this pristine at all times. Thank you for the notice regarding the lightshade in the entrance hall, we had not actually noted this (nor have we had any feedback regarding this whilst we have had this property as a holiday let). We will look to find a suitable lightshade which does not diminish the light in this hallway. Regarding the kitchen, the doors as you note have been painted, however, to allow for ease of cleaning, the kickboards and interior of the doors have been left bare. However, we will look to see if any further upgrades can be made to the kitchen to improve the aesthetics. As per the above, we do welcome all feedback and will always strive to improve the property following consideration of the same. We will look at engaging a more frequent cleaning of the exterior of the property, however, we do feel that the one star cleaning review and one star facilities and maintenance review are harsh given your comments. No issues regarding the cleanliness of the property we raised during the course of your stay and it appears that you have largely raised issue with exterior cleanliness. Whilst we do appreciate these comments, we do not think a one star review is a fair representation of the overall cleaniness inside and out. Regarding maintenance/facilities, we can only see that the issue with age/modernity of the property has been raised in addition to the issue if cleaning. Again, we do not feel that one star is a fair reflection of the property offered in light of the advertisement of this property. We do hope that despite the issues you have highlighted that you enjoyed your stay at the property and in Chester. Property Owner

"We enjoyed our stay at Benton Drive which is situated in a fantastic location - 15 minutes walk from the city centre, nearby playgrounds for the children, and many local amenities to choose from."
The house was spacious for us (a family of four). The owners were very attentive before we arrived with clear instructions on how to access the house and checking in on us during the week. The location of the house is on a quiet estate with a private drive.

"Had a lovely weeks stay in this property."
It was nice to meet the owner Charlotte, who made us very welcome. There was plenty of room for 6 adults. It is an easy 25 minute flat walk into Chester or a bus stop is nearby the house,a large Morrisons just around the corner and a train station. Lots of shops to browse and a big christmas market in the centre. A vast choice of restaurants and cafes to choose from and plenty of historical sites to view. We would highly recommend a trip to Chester.

"This is a lovely property with everything provided for a comfortable stay."
The area is very quiet, yet the city centre is easily accessed by car, bus or on foot in a matter of minutes. A supermarket is just a short walk away. The host responds swiftly to any query and is very helpful.

"The lounge seating was very uncomfortable but other wise everything was good"

"Nice clean property, easy 10 to 15 minutes stroll into centre of Chester, ( a lovely old city), parking on drive was a bonus, host easily contactable, everything you need for a pleasant stay, would stay here again."

"Had a most enjoyable stay."
The property gave us a great opportunity to explore Chester easily, on foot and by car being just a 20 min walk into City Centre. A very useful and large Morrisons was a 10 min walk away as was Bache station with easy parking. We also made use of a back garden to relax in at the end of a busy day. A nice little extra would be to provide a few dishwasher tablets/a cleaning product or two so that we could clean as we go like we do at home but that's just a suggestion and our personal preference. Would definitely return and recommend to others. What a great place Chester is!! Loved the shopping, zoo, cruises on River Dee, Cathedral, trip to Liverpool but be aware for beatles experience you have to book in advance. Thank you.

About the location
CHESTER
Liverpool 17 miles; Manchester 36 miles.
Chester has quite rightly been described as 'the jewel of the North-West of England'. Perhaps the most fascinating aspect of the city is that within a very small area there is evidence of every period of history - from the old walls and amphitheatre of Roman times, through medieval churches, Elizabethan timber-framed townhouses and Georgian terraces, to Victorian restorations and 21st century architecture. The city has much to offer the tourist, including excellent shopping in and around the famous Tudor 'Rows' and lovely walks along the Roman Walls, beside the River Dee and through the picturesque Grosvenor Park. Explore Chester's beautiful medieval cathedral, visit Chester Racecourse or spend a day at the world renowned Chester Zoo. Further afield, the stunning Welsh mountains and coastline, the quaint market towns and villages of Cheshire and the Wirral Peninsula with its first class golf courses, are all within easy touring distance, whilst frequent rail services make Liverpool, Manchester and the North Wales coast readily accessible.
