  • "This was a perfect cottage for a three generation party of 5."

One bedroom and en suite is completely separate (own staircase) from the other two bedrooms and bathrooms. Kitchen is fine for making meals in. Plenty of living room space. Location is a couple of minutes from Aberfeldy where you have some nice coffee shops, restaurants, grocery store etc.

  • "We really enjoyed our multi-generational stay at Bugaboo."

The second sitting room and double room with ensuite (upstairs) was like it's own annex, providing peace and quiet at night time, with the open plan area and two twin ensuite rooms (off the other staircase) were used by the younger two generations. Kitchens and bathrooms were clean, however some surfaces and ledges could do with dusting. The kitchen would benefit a cupboard to store food, as we had to use the wide window shelf, but excellent supply of dishes, pans, and good cooker etc. The second fridge came in useful too. Excellent washing/drying room just outside Bugaboo. We would stay there again if exploring more of the area. Ample parking for two cars on site, but beware the neighborhood watch if visitors park elsewhere in the hamlet! Walking distance from Aberfeldy which has well stocked Co-op, bakery, butchers etc.

  • "The property owner was lovely."

The picture of cottage was totally misleading and inside was so dark we had lights on all the time we were in cottage. The details said dog friendly but no way of stopping dog going upstairs so used chairs to barricade. Glad we didn’t have children as stairs would have been a big problem. Plus side cottage in good location for seeing the sights and mostly very clean.

Thanks for your feedback. Inevitably cottages have small windows but the lighting inside is very good so I think the photos are accurate. The bedrooms are light and airy. Many of our guests return and really like the cosiness so it is a matter of personal preference. Larch cottage next door has an upstairs living room which is very light and airy. Property Owner

  • "I booked Bugaboo Cottage as I was having a couple of days fishing the river Tay and my partner and mother fancied a wee break away."

The cottage was lovely with everything that you would need for a comfortable stay. A lovely double room with ensuite , and two other very nice twin rooms both with on-suite bathrooms. As a fisher it was handy to have the drying area for wet waders and boots. The underfloor heating was very pleasant and the shower has more than enough pressure which is always a positive. I would stay again.

  • "We had the best Christmas at Bugaboo Cottage."

Such a lovely place - very spacious but cozy, mountain view in the distance, 5 min walk from pub, comfy rooms/beds and the underfloor heating was delightful!!!! 5 stars for the owners as well, who put up a xmas tree and decorations for us and when we couldn't check out on time due to car trouble in a storm, they were very understanding and offered help which was so kind in a stressful moment with infant and toddler. Everyone loved it. We will definitely be back!

  • "We booked Bugaboo (together with Larch cottage next door, which we had booked before) to accommodate our extended family for a pre-Christmas long weekend get-together."

Bugaboo comfortably housed five adults and two kids (and a dog) and was a nice setting for our family meals. There were ample towels and linen for all, and teabags, milk and shortbread left for us on arrival. We explored Aberfeldy and beyond, mostly on foot, and even popped along to the Ailean Chraggan hotel for a pint (less than 10 minutes' walk from Bugaboo: top tip - take a bright torch to light your way outwith daylight hours). We'll be back...

Many thanks for staying with us again and for leaving the cottages so tidy. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely holiday at Bugaboo Cottage."

The house was ideal for our party - spacious, clean and very comfortable, and particularly well equipped, even for baking. Upstairs was light and airy, and downstairs cosy with underfloor heating, and we loved having three bathrooms, one for each bedroom! It's five minutes away from Menzies Castle and some beautiful forest walks, well within walking distance of Aberfeldy, and 15 or so minutes by car from Kenmore (Crannog Centre and Watersports). We had most of our meals outside on the patio, and when we weren't exploring the lovely area, the children enjoyed playing in the garden. Many thanks to the owners!

The cottage is well-presented with plenty cooking equipment and adequate dishes etc. The kitchen/dining/sitting room is spacious, with comfortable sofas and chairs to relax in after a day’s walking or cycling. The entrance area is great for storing boots, jackets, etc. We used the second sitting room as a store for cool boxes, rucksacks and so on. Bedrooms are nice with comfortable beds. The laundry at the back was ideal for washing and drying clothes and would be a real bonus in bad weather. It was hot and sunny for the whole week we stayed and we enjoyed a cold drink round the picnic table in the garden when we came back each day. The area is beautiful with lots to do for people who enjoy the outdoors. The hotel about a quarter of a mile back towards Aberfeldy has a nice beer garden and offers good food. It can be accessed from a path so no need to walk along the road which can be quite busy. All in all, an excellent stay - we hope to return!

About the location

ABERFELDY

Pitlochry 14 miles; Perth 31 miles.

The market town of Aberfeldy stands on the River Tay amidst beautiful scenery in rural Perthshire. Famous for its association with Burns and his poem The Birks Of Aberfeldy, and also the bridge built for General Wade in 1733, Aberfeldy is just south of Glen Lyon, known as the longest, loneliest, and loveliest glen in Scotland. There is much to attract the visitor in addition to the spectacular scenery. There is a 10 mile riverside walk for pedestrians and cyclists, as well as numerous paths through forest and countryside. In addition, Aberfeldy is on the Rob Roy Way and Cycle Route 7. Whitewater rafting on the River Tay is an exhilarating way to enjoy the scenery. Castle Menzies is a wonderful 16th century castle, now fully restored and open to visitors. Take a distillery tour at Dewar’s World of Whisky on the edge of town. Sample the many bars, restaurants and cafes in the town and explore the galleries and craft shops, including the Scottish Chocolate Centre. The Scottish Crannog Centre offers a glimpse into Iron Age life and Loch Tay offers a multitude of watersports, while Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park are on your doorstep. An hours drive brings you to 30 Munros, just waiting to be 'bagged'!
