The property

Situated in the seaside town of Banff, renowned for its architecture in Aberdeenshire, lies this two-bedroom shorefront cottage, Dolphin Cottage.

Just a stone's throw away from the coast, a wide range of amenities, and historical landmarks, the cottage is ideal for a family or group break to the Scottish countryside.

You might even be in luck and be able to watch the local dolphins swim past from the windows of the cottage.

On arrival at Dolphin Cottage with its traditional stone-fronted exterior, make use of the on-road parking spaces, before venturing into the homely living/dining room, with breath-taking views of the sea; warm up after a coastal walk or a beach day in front of the woodburning stove, catch up with your latest series, or prepare for a home-cooked meal around the dining table.

All your meals can be prepared in the kitchen, well-equipped with all the expected amenities to relax into your stay, plus a washer/dryer for your holiday clothes, along with child-friendly accessories.

To the rear of Dolphin Cottage, you'll have access to an enclosed, multi-level garden, offering a private space to unwind, soak up the sunshine, and feel surrounded by nature.

Head upstairs to the family bathroom, displaying enough space to freshen up, or simply enjoy a long hot soak.

The first floor is completed by two well-positioned bedrooms, boasting sea glimpses and plenty of storage, including a double, and a single with a truckle bed.

Well-located to the harbour and the town centre, you'll have a wealth of dine-out options to consider in Banff, including Bridgeview Restaurant, Baird's Bistro and The Market Arms, whilst you'll have plenty of shops and emporiums to visit; you can experience the best of both worlds when opting for a self-catering break.

For an adventure-filled stay, follow Montcoffer Woods Path, take in the stunning landscape of Bow Fiddle Rock, or trail across Moray Firth, towards the East Coast.

Duff House, Kinnaird Head Castle Lighthouse and Museum, and Castle of Pittulie are all idyllic attractions for the historians of the group, displaying the local heritage from the 1500s.

Perfect for the entire family, head to Portsoy Harbor, the location of filming of Whiskey Galore 2 and the final Peaky Blinders season, visit Macduff Marine Aquarium and its array of sea creatures, or tour the Museum of Banff and its preserved memories of the town.

With an attraction for all types of breaks, use Dolphin Cottage as your Aberdeenshire base.

BANFF

Fraserburgh 25 miles; Elgin 35 miles; Aberdeen 40 miles.

Banff is a former county town and a Royal Burgh, having received its charter from Robert the Bruce in 1324. The town has been designated an Outstanding Conservation Area and is famous for its outstanding architecture. Banff contains a variety of architecture in a number of contrasting styles, including Georgian architecture that can be found in the upper part of the town. Banff Harbour is now a recreational harbour and marina, and the town boasts spectacular sea views, sandy beaches, shops and seafood restaurants. Duff House, built between 1735 and 1740 is situated in the Deveron Valley, and is thought to be one of Britain's finest Georgian houses. Close by is Duff House Royal golf course and two miles away the neighbouring town of Macduff offers the Royal Tarlair golf course and award-winning Marine Aquarium. Nearby, the old smugglers village of Pennan was used as the location for the movie Local Hero, and its famous phonebox is a listed historical monument. The area also boasts sandy beaches, forest walks, cycle routes, whisky trails, pony trekking and dolphin watching, along with the Museum of Scottish Lighthouses in Fraserburgh and the Portsoy Boat Festival and Turriff Show.
