  • "We were disappointed at the lack of kitchen equipment we assumed as it catered for 8 and a big kitchen it would be well equipped."

We bought a roasting tin , only 1 shelf in top oven and one bottom oven and two oven trays only one frying pan . We would have liked there to be egg cups measuring jug dishwasher washing up liquid , scales , sponge , garlic crusher , and kitchen scale. only some hand soap in some of the bathrooms . Would be nice to have mirror in all bedrooms . Kitchen floor and skirting through house not clean light fitting etc . Picnic benches not suitable to use as broken and heavily peeling . Broken hall upstairs plug sock little fingers could be dangerous. Oven door swings in on you burning your arm . Knives blunt very hard to cut with . We had two stained white towels and the washing machine rubber and draw mouldy and dirty . It is a lovely big house and garden but the lack of maintenance and amenities ruined the quality of stay it is cost of living crisis and had to get takeaways a few time . The oven also smokes and no fan in kitchen sets alarm off unless open all windows and doors . Fridge a bit small for 8 people . We also slept horribly in the room on the right at top of stairs as curtains have gaps at side and let a lot of light in . Disappointed nothing to do not even one fire with or no tools to clean up a fire with or basket so that wasn’t an option . Kitchen bin was broken had to have bin liner on floor .

Thank you for your feedback, If you wanted additional extra kitchen utensils you could have emailed me and I'd have some sent to you via Amazon. The cleaning company insists that sponges and washing up liquid was available. The room at the top of the stairs comments is unfathomable. The kitchen bin is not broken but you do not need to put the bin liner inside it. Tools for the fire are in the under stairs cupboard. If you were unhappy I wished you contacted me straight away so I could have rectified the situation by either getting the cleaning company to re-attend the property or to purchase additional items and have them sent to you. Thank you again. Property Owner

  • "Property is ideally located with nice forest walks right out the front door and a great walking nearby!"

Furnishing is a bit tired with old stained settees that swallow you whole. Kitchen is poorly equipped no basic stores (salt & pepper, sugar, oil, etc) or supplies (cling wrap, tin foil) of any kind, not even a dish towel or new sponge for washing up (and there is no dishwasher). It wasn't much of a pleasure to use because of the woefully dull knifes, glass cutting board with no coffee maker or cafetière and inadequate pans. My advice, dine out which requires a drive to Grantown-on-Spey, Aviemore or Boat on Garden (highly recommend the pizza and Anderson or a pies at the Craig) The bathrooms are both recently furnished one with a shower (good water pressure handheld and a rain shower head) and the other with a bath (which we chose not to use because there isn't an adequate supply of hot water to fill it). Even though our stay was in June, the temperatures were chilly at night and the heating only worked upstairs (where you don't need it). It would have been nice to take the chill off in the morning but alas no. The owner was quick to respond to our inquiries but wasn't able to resolve the heating during our stay. The views are spectacular and the garden is large with plenty of room for the dog but sadly there was no outdoor furniture. The bedrooms are all good size with great views out the master which has a comfortable bed, the other rooms the beds are OK. This property is less than we have come to expect from a VRBO (perhaps Sykes has lower standards as this was our first stay in one of their properties) but for the money it's a good value base on size and location.

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry you feel that the furnishings are a bit tired - they were purhcased in 2022 and I am afraid renewing furniture every two or three years is unrealistic. Thank you for informing me about the lack of washing up sponge and tea towel - you certainly should have had those items and I will inform the cleaning company so that does not happen again. Regarding food supplies left in the property, I do not recommend that any foodstuffs are left in the property - it is in a rural area and if I get a break in bookings I am loathe to encourage vermin ingest into the house - so I play it safe and don't supply any condiments or cooking oil etc. The heating downstairs issue is due to an electrical fault in the thermostat. I offered to send the electrician on Wednesday to sort it out but the offer was turned down. And besides, last week was a mini heatwave with temperatures (even in Strathspey) of the low to mid twenties. The electrical issue is due to be resolved tomorrow (2nd July). There is plenty of hot water for the bath - there is the option of heating the water via the immersion (preferred) or the oil boiler controlled by the thermostat - I am unsure why this became an issue. Outdoor furniture is available (as detailed) on demand - details will from now on be included in the welcome email. I am glad you feel Greenaway is good value based on its size and location. • "We had a good holiday in this spacious home with very large garden."

Unfortunately neither of the two TVs upstairs worked. With such a big garden we expected some outdoor furniture, but we were very disappointed there was absolutely none.

Hi, I am glad you had a good holiday at Greenaway. Regarding outdoor furniture, we do have some large picnic benches that are available - if you stay at Greenaway in the future I can provide details of how to access them from the garage. Domestic garden furniture in the past has been badly damaged by the weather so we tend not to leave any outside. The two TVs upstairs are connected - the master TV is the one in the bedroom where you should set up your desired channel via the the Sky dish - that TV controls the bathroom one due to the rules of having TVs in bathrooms (the bathroom TV works off a DC 12V power supply.) If there are any concerns in the future or queries please contact me straight away and I will endeavour to sort any issues out. Thank you. Property Owner

  • "Lovely property, garden great for dogs and woods to walk through just steps from the door."

Weather was beautiful all week. 5 min from Granton on Spey and 15min from Avimore though Greenaway is secluded. Wouldn't hesitate to book again.

Dear Simon, Many thanks for your fantastic feedback and I am glad you had a great holiday. We look forward to welcoming back to Greenaway again in the future. Regards Paul Property Owner

  • "The property and enclosed garden are huge."

There are lovely views of the mountains and there are lots of things to see and do in the local area of the Cairngorms. The huge smart TV does not receive the usual TV channels, you need to login into apps to access the TV channels, so the iplayer for BBC channels, the Chanel 4 app for Channel four TV etc. There were plenty of toilet rolls left in the property and washing up liquid but there is nothing else, so no condiments, cling film, foil, bin bags etc. We had an Asda delivery the first night we were there so you don't need to have a huge shop en route. A pack of instructions would be good explaining how things work etc would be good.

Dear Janet, Thank you for your feedback and I am glad you enjoyed the views and garden. As Greenaway is a self catering unit we do not supply condiments - my apologies if that is an issue for you. I will ensure there are supplies of bin bags and foil in the future, thank you for bringing this to my attention. Regards Paul Owner of Greenaway Property Owner

  • "A large and very comfortable property."

Kitchen was well equipped and the bathrooms were large and very up to date. The 3 main bedrooms also very spacious with plenty of storage space. The dog loved the size of the garden which was well enclosed. Property is in a very peaceful location, but handy to all the facilities in Aviemore.

Dear Joanne, Thank you for your feedback and I am really glad you enjoyed the space within the house and your dog enjoyed the garden - the garden and surrounding woodland is dog heaven...my two sheepdogs love it at Greenaway. Holidays there are as much for the dogs as they are for us! Best wishes, Paul Owner of Greenaway Property Owner

  • "Lovely property, but lacking a few items- tea cozy, washing line- I know there was an airer but not big enough for 6 people."

What would have been really great would have been a dish washer.Washing up on holiday is not good and you never know if the items are cleaned properly from one person to another between stays. Info about recycling needed. But we loved it anyway.

Hi Ciara, Thank you for your feedback. You bring out some relevant points. Firstly, information is now provided on recycling - thank you for prompting me. And secondly the conundrum on washing machine vs dishwasher - Greenaway was architecturally designed over 50 years ago without flexibility built into to re-working cupboard space etc. Therefore, despite trying to work out if I could get a dishwasher and a washing machine in the kitchen I concluded that it wasn't feasible so I am afraid a washing machine trumped a dishwasher. As the family dishwasher, I understand the situation isn't ideal but Greenaway's construction doesn't make for easy modification. I hope you will visit Greenaway again and thanks for your comments.
