  • "Absolutely fantastic property."

Home from home. Everything you need was there. Welcome pack was so thoughtful, and homemade shortbread was amazing. Location was excellent. We all had a fantastic time and will definitely be back.

  • "We had a very enjoyable week here in the cottage which is under a 10 min walk to the town centre."

Facilities were good and spacious with plenty of room to park your car - a television in the bedroom would have been nice but they do seem to be something of a rarity in holiday lets. The woods at the back are a real joy with nice walks down to the river. We were very lucky to see the red squirrels in the garden and even took some photos of them. Eateries for the half discerning appeared to be scarce in Grantown but we did enjoy an evening meal at the Speyside Hotel, otherwise ate in. The town does have a decent Co -op and in Nairn there is an excellent Sainsburys. Grantown is an excellent location to visit the surrounding area - we went to Balmoral (Ballater is a lovely village), Cawdor, Urqhart Castle (on Loch Ness) and above all the wonderful Ballindalloch Castle & Gardens. Can thoroughly recommend a stay at Dunstaffnage Cottage.

There was plenty of space for the 4 of us, our 2 teenagers were very happy to have large bedrooms and ensuites to themselves upstairs! The cottage is very well equipped and in beautiful surroundings. Plenty to do in the area, Grantown is a short 10 minute walk and has a big Co-op and various pubs/takeaways. We were very grateful for the welcome gifts of milk, biscuits and wine, thank you!

It was ideally located, close enough to amenities and yet enconsced away giving adequate privacy and quiet time. The Cottage itself was charming, well appointed with themed bedrooms that added to the joy and excitement of my children. And finally, the hosts, Mr and Mrs. McInnes were fabulous, warm, accommodating and always available to help. I would recommend this place to anyone with a family planning a vacation here.

  • "A lovely house in a great area."

It’s within easy walking distance of the centre of the picturesque little town of Grantown on Spey but also on the edge of Anagach Woods, a pine forest that surrounds the town. The woods are great for morning and evening walks. You can easily walk to and along the majestic River Spey. There are indeed loads of great walks and bike rides on the doorstep, but you’re also close to the Cairngorms, the Highland Folk Museum and much more. I made a couple of little videos about the location, one about the woods: https://youtu.be/hyqMqkB8qY0?si=DOE8zEaYHW19gBRO And one about the town: https://www.instagram.com/reel/CyAcmdXoA0S/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== Our only pointer for improvement would be the cooking equipment in the kitchen. There are few sharp knives and we could find no scales. So if this would be important to you, best to bring your own.

The hosts were very nice and friendly. Each bedroom has their own private bathroom, and the garden area leads directly into the woods to the rear, allowing easy access for walkers and cyclists. We can’t recommend it highly enough.

  • "We booked this holiday for location and because it had a pod in the garden for the sunny days to sit in and listen to music and relax after a day of exploring but on arrival was told the pod isn't for our use it's only for theirs which we wasn't happy about as it shows it on the website and i also asked the agent if it was included in our holiday and was told yes."

The people that own the house are absolutely lovely and very friendly and always spoke to us.

The Pod is not part of the cottage let as Sykes have been informed. Sykes have been asked to remove this on their website. Sorry for your upset. I will ask Sykes again to remove the Pod from there website. Regards, Sandy. Property Owner

  • "We were warmly welcomed and looked after by owners Lorraine and Sandy."

The cottage was cosy and comfortable and we enjoyed our time there. The town of Grantown on Spey is small but has a good COOP store and a good number of local shops and places to drink and dine. The town is also central in an area where there are lots of activities and pastimes to follow. There are also lots of places to visit on days out, such as castles and distilleries and Landmark adventure park. Walks in the Cairngorms and experiencing the reopened funicular railway were also fun. So, lots to do in this area. We had a really enjoyable holiday.

  • "We had a lovely 2 weeks at the property."

Our hosts were very welcoming, the welcome pack of milk, shortbread and prosecco was a lovely touch as well as the Easter eggs for the kids. Garden was great for kids, they especially loved playing on the trampoline and watching the ducks on the pond! The house is in a lovely quite spot but still close to town. The plot backs onto woodland, with a private access gate into the woods which are fantastic for bikes of all abilities from toddler balance bikes to experienced mountain bikers. We also saw a Red Squirrel very close by and a Roe Deer and Heron at the nearby Pond at dusk. The beds were very comfortable and the house was plenty warm enough, the storage heaters worked well once you had them set to the right level. The house was well presented, although the edges of carpets needed a deeper clean and we found quite a few cobwebs around about. A bigger clothes airer would also have been useful, but clothes did dry quickly. There was no freezer in the kitchen (which we knew from the listing) but we were pleasantly surprised to find a fridge freezer in the storage shed right outside which was great. Couple of things were lacking from the kitchen that would have been useful - a cheese grater, more teaspoons, baking trays for oven and pint glasses. We also found the kitchen tap very splashy!

We have put in 12 more tee spoons ,6 pint glasses, cheese grater and 2 more baking trays. The plumber has checked the kitchen tap to stop it splashing. Thank you for your comments. Regards Sandy. Property Owner

Dunstaffnage Cottage was a perfect base for lots of day trips. Sandy’s communication was excellent, and the cottage had everything we needed. The clearing of snow on (even) the side roads was fantastic- ensuring continued access to Aviemore & The Lecht for skiing. A long day driving to John O’Groats & Dunnets Head enabled us to add another tick to our bucket list - and a faint shimmer of the northern lights, from the cottage, was fab

  • "Dunstaffnage cottage is a lovely cosy place with a well-equipped kitchen."

It is in a superb location on the edge of the woods, and within 5 mins walking into Grantown centre. The cottage was very warm even in January. We didn't have children with us, but it would be perfect for children as it is in the grounds of a large house with lots of garden to explore, and playgrounds. We had a lovely welcome with a few goodies in the fridge. My only negative point is that the beds are a little tired and could do with revamping with new mattresses and pillows. However, I would definitely come back again.

Thank you for your comments, we have now replaced the bedding mattresses and pillows. Property Owner
