• "This was a lovely, clean property, obviously had been a family home, and was really well-equipped with loads of space for everyone (there were 7 of us including children plus 2 dogs)."

  There was thought given to children visiting and safety requirements and our 5- and 2-year olds loved their lower bunk beds. The garden at the rear was secure for both dogs and children. Bowls etc were there for the dogs and plastic plates and bowls, as well as some toys and books, for the children. This was a great base for exploring the surrounding countryside and nearby towns. The house was very warm but we were able to adjust rooms to our preferences quite easily, as instructions were left. We would recommend this property to anyone.

• "Absolutely amazing place to stay - spacious, clean and great facilities."

  The kitchen was great with an air fryer,.oven, hob and full range of cooking implements. Plenty of space for 2 families without feeling on top of each other. Hosts were really helpful, all instructions clear. Garden was lovely and enclosed which was great for kids and dog. Perfect location for exploring the beautiful coastline - we're hoping to come back next year!!

• "Absolutely gorgeous house in quiet surroundings."

  We had a really relaxing week. The house is conveniently located near to shops but far enough out to enjoy the peace and quiet and lovely countryside views. It's 10 minutes in the car to a beautiful beach and ideal for those who want to tour the many other attractions in the area. The owners were lovely and extremely helpful. We'll definitely be recommending this property and hopefully be back soon.

• "Brilliant stay, perfect house with everything we needed to enjoy our stay."

  This house has a lovely feel to it and it's history is very intriguing. You feel like you are miles out in the country but you are only five minuites drive from at least four big supermarkets and a beautiful town. Would highly recommend and consider returning next year. :)

• "Peaceful location - quiet roads around for dog walks and woods not far away."

  Magnificent views towards basin from hamlet and locals we met on dog walks all very friendly. House is older and has its character. Learnt how to use Alexa and air fryer on this stay - handy but not convinced. An ikea chair in lounge would be useful as well as upstairs as better back support for our lanky ones. Plenty of space for kids to disappear and eldest who used the big bedroom downstairs said it was perfect for him. Location easy access roads north and south a good attractions very close by, distillery, farm shop, Luann bay big beach and lighthouse walk. If interested in ships - harbour is an ever changing variety of different colour support ships. Great nighttime photos

• "We had a great time in this spacious and comfortable cottage."

  The woodburner was wonderful on the one cold evening we had. The mattresses were very comfy, and the kitchen well equipped. Parking was easy and spacious. The owner was very attentive and helpful too. Feels like you're in the country, quiet and pleasant views. But then it's literally three minute in the car to Montrose. Recommended!

• "Superb place to stay for a golfing break."

  The house is super comfortable with loads of space and really well equipped. It was cold and windy during our stay but we were always cosy when inside the house. Couple of points for improvement: the wifi and the shower. Both were weak Would defo stay again

• "Beautiful house in a very quiet and peaceful location with lovely views, close to the wildlife centre at the basin and to beaches."

  House of Dun was well worth a visit, as were Brechin and Lunan. The house had everything we needed and Nick, the owner, was very helpful. A great place for a peaceful, gentle holiday.

• "Wonderful setting, spacious and yet cosy."

  We had a great time with grand kids and 2 dogs, all enjoyed the local walks and fresh air. Landlord very helpful and friendly. Evenings enjoying the wood burner finished off great days. Thank you.

• "A stunning property for a family get together."

  fully equipped and very comfortable. Had an issue with the new heating system but our host Nick handled excellently with extra treats as way of apology. Some properties are ok this is in our top 3...(sorry Nick a hot tub is always going to win). See you next year...

• "A really comfortable house with all the facilities that we needed."

• "The property was lovely and spacious plenty of room for all 7 of us even including our disabled son who is in a wheelchair."

  Part of the reason we choose the house was the down stairs bedroom and it was massive and suits my sons needs to the max. The bunk beds were a total hit with my younger children. The welcome pack we received on arrival was greatly appreciated and the eggs from the owners hens were amazing. There is plenty to do and see locally with lots of lovely beaches and local walks. We had an amazing week and will be booking again next year.

• "We had a great week at the Old Schoolhouse."

  The property is very spacious and was ideal for the 6 of us plus dog. We particularly enjoyed the generous welcome pack. The totally enclosed garden felt very safe for our dog Bailey and she enjoyed romping about and sniffing under the hedge. We made good use of the large barbecue and added the garden herbs to our cooking. Great walks from the house.

• "We had a wonderful time at the Old Schoolhouse."

  The house is spacious and well kitted out. The enclosed garden was great for the twins (2yrs old) and our dog. There were unexpected extras, like a generous welcome pack and garden toys in the shed. The location is great; the property is in a small hamlet only a couple of miles from the shops and facilities of Montrose, yet most days we stepped out of the front door and went on walks in the quiet country lanes or down to the estuary and the lighthouse. The local area has lots to do. We went to many good playparks and the beaches (Lunan and St Cyrus especially) are great. House of Dun is great for history buffs and the zoo at Camperdown Park in Dundee has some great animals (tip: we were there mid afternoon when the keepers were feeding the animals and they came forward). Most of all we enjoyed being in the country with open views, walks, tractors, and occasionally wildlife, like deer in the fields and bats flitting at twilight. The hosts Nick and Emma were friendly and helpful on the few occasions we saw them. They really wanted our feedback.

• "We had a fabulous time at The Old Schoolhouse everything we expected , a perfect place for a family and dogs and very well appointed."

  The Old Schoolhouse is well positioned to be in amazing countryside yet close to amenities and the beach only a couple of miles away. Lots to see in the area. It was nice to meet Nick the owner and we will be back.
