  • "Had another lovely stay here, my third time at Little Lochlair and what can I say that I haven't already said?"

A lovely, cosy and comfortable apartment and very well equipped, a real home from home, with a little balcony which was ideal for sitting on while the sun was out and the views are fantastic. The hosts, Mandy and Ian are very welcoming and friendly and their dog, Beth is just adorable. Ideally situated for touring the surrounding areas as well, and despite it's rural location it never seemed far from anywhere. Would definitely recommend and would come back again. Thank you.

  • "We had a lovely time at Little Lochlair."

The weather was glorious and we enjoyed sitting on the balcony. It's set in beautiful surroundings with farmland all around and we had great views of the sunsets. We had some trouble with our car and both Ian and Mandy helped us in so many ways to get it fixed. They were very friendly, helpful and kind which made all the difference to our situation. We will definitely go back because we didn't manage to do all that we wanted to do.

Homely, beautifully presented, and all you need for a perfect stay. Not too far from places to see, walk and enjoy. Close to Carnoustie Beach, Arbroath clifftop walk and our favourite Lunan Bay. Montrose beach is a bit further but worth going to. Best of all was coming back to Little Lochlair and have a quiet, restful evening.

It was spotlessly clean warm and comfortable with every thing you needed. The views from the balcony, with a 360 degree vista, and the sunsets are breath taking. If you look carefully early am and evening you will see deer, pheasants and hares. Dog owners should not be put off, there is somewhere for your dog to have a wee last thing at night and open fields a short walk up the road. The owners live next door and are very welcoming without being intrusive. Little things like home made scones, jam, butter fresh milk tea coffee and fresh flowers and even binoculars show how much the hosts care. Lots of places to visit close by.

Very relaxing time; just visiting the surrounding towns and a special visit to Auchenblae near Laurencekirk to visit family. Well worth the cost ..................

The property

Surrounded by stunning countryside views near the Angus Glens, is Little Lochlair, a stylish one bed apartment built on top of the owners garage, in the north east of Scotland.

The apartment is in the village of Kirkbuddo, near Forfar amid agricultural fields, with amenities being a short drive away, this property would be best suited to a couple for a quiet break.

Up a set of stone steps and through the glass doors, you enter the apartment and into the open-plan living space, where you can flop down onto the stylish vintage sofa to watch a film after a day of walking the Glens or perhaps just prop the door open and take in the peaceful views of the fields below.

Despite the small and compact size, you will still find everything you need in the kitchen area, with a combi microwave-oven and two-ring induction hob available to prepare some simple meals, and even a dining table for two, so save one of your nights for a romantic evening meal at the apartment, and afterwards watch the sun set from the patio.

To the back of the property, a pretty double bedroom awaits, with velux windows fitted to bring in the natural light, and home to the en-suite shower room with basin and WC.

Local amenities lie a short car journey away at Forfar, a nearby town that has several shops, pubs and supermarkets, or head to the monthly farmers' market if it's on to see the best local produce the market town has to offer.

If you're a keen golfer, then head down to Carnoustie - about a 7-mile trip - home to Carnoustie Golf Links course that often hosts the Open Championship, where many famous golfers have been before.

There's another great day out to be had in Dundee, Scotland's fourth city which has undergone recent redevelopment, and with the city being set upon the Tay estuary, what better way to enjoy the city than a boat trip with bottlenose dolphins and seals being regular visitors to the estuary, keep your eyes peeled and hopefully spot some!

Affording you a perfect base from which to explore this spectacular area, you can look forward to returning every night to Little Lochlair, your haven under the stars.

You can also take time out to visit the popular V&A Dundee.
