The cottage has been renovated to a high standard, is clean, well maintained and well equipped. Thought has obviously been put into the decoration to create a pleasant, tasteful, homely environment. It was also nice to get a welcome pack, including a bottle of sparkling wine, which provided welcome refreshment after a long journey.

  • "Fantastic cottage in Fishertown in Nairn."

We really enjoyed all of the thoughtful details. The kitchen was very well equipped, the bed was incredibly comfortable and the bathroom/shower were just lovely. The proximity to the river, harbor, East Beach and Culbin Forest are fantastic. We took many lovely walks. Nairn’s high street is also just moments away. We highly recommended Basil Cafe (near the harbor) and Fusion 42 (on the high street). We chose not to use the provided parking (it was a little tight for a rental car we weren’t familiar with), but found it very easy to park on the street nearby. We initially missed a few things because we didn’t park in back. If you can’t find/access something, walk around to the back of the cottage and I’m sure you’ll find it.

Thankyou for your lovely feedback on Griffin Cottage, we very much appreciate all feedback. It makes it all worth while when we receive such helpful feedback, hopefully we have sorted the entry key issue by adding it to the Cottage information before arrival.. Property Owner

  • "Very comfortable, nicely decorated and within easy reach of the beach."

We appreciated the wine and chocolates as well as the flowers. We arrived very late at night on foot after delayed train journey and found it tricky to locate. The key box is round the back at the kitchen door, rather than at front where we first arrived. Kind neighbour was very helpful. An extra light in sitting room would be useful. In all a very pleasant stay.

Hello, sorry that you had trouble locating where the key safe is kept. Majority of people that stay at Griffin Cottage arrive by car, the parking area for cars is at the back of the house and this is where the key safe is kept at the back door.. There are two lamps in the sitting room, we have a table lamp in one corner and in the corner unit there is a lighthouse lamp.. I am not sure if you realised this is also a lamp. Sorry if this wasn't enough light for the room for you. Yes, my neighbours are a great help to me.. Thankyou for taking the time to leave the helpful feedback for Griffin Cottage. Property Owner

  • "Griffin Cottage is undoubtedly one of the best cottages we have stayed in."

On arrival, we were greeted with wine, chocolates and fresh flowers. The cottage has been lovingly and beautifully restored to give guests all our modern facilities while preserving the character of the cottage: We loved Daska's information about the process. Everything that you could need was included - selection of teas, coffees, lots of store cupboard essentials, washing tablets, cleaning materials. I loved the cosy robes and hot water bottles and the great selection of shampoos, body wash and hand lotion. Everyone we met in Nairn was so friendly and relaxed - super neighbours on all sides. An amazing bonus was seeing the Northern Lights/ Aurora Borealis one night - look out of the bathroom window! There is an app that tells you the best times to see it but this was just by chance. Thank you Daska for providing such an amazing cottage. We will definitely be back. Gillian and Steven - Aberdeenshire

The cottage has been lovingly restored to a very high standard and a brief history is given in the information file which makes a very interesting read. It was clean, cosy and well positioned for visits in all directions. Griffin Cottage was like home from home with anything we could possibly need to prepare meals and make life comfortable with comfy beds, lots of hot water and an efficient multi fuel burner. We had a day wandering the coastline and town of Nairn, a visit to Culloden battle site, a walk round Brodie Castle grounds and saw seals at Findhorn Beach. We so enjoyed our holiday and the icing on the cake was the lovely way Daska hosted her property by being at the end of the phone to answer questions and by leaving us lovely welcome gifts and then leaving us to have a great time. Thank you so much Daska, we are already thinking of booking another visit early next year!

Hello Mandy, First of all, thankyou for your lovely feed back.. So pleased you all enjoyed your stay at Griffin Cottage. As you mentioned Griffin Cottage is ideally situated for relaxed days like walks along the beach, eating local with plenty of cafés, restaurants and pubs to choose from. Places like Brodie and Cawdor castle are not far away, Findhorn is also great to visit with Culbin forest right next door for the adventurous. As always it's my pleasure just to make sure everything is just right for all of Griffin Cottage guests, Kindest regards, Daska Property Owner

  • "As if we weren’t lucky enough to find ourselves spending a week in the lovely town of Nairn during a week’s heatwave, we had the added joy of spending that week in Griffin Cottage."

Griffin is in the heart of the Fishertown area, with the harbour and glorious beaches less than half a mile away, and within an easy stroll of the town centre. We arrived to find an excellent selection of treats and drink generously provided by Daska – the owner - to welcome us. Another nice touch is that a cupboard contained some of the staples that can often be accidentally left behind. Griffin is cosy, welcoming and well appointed; one of a collection of historically randomly sited cottages and very much part of a real community; nearby neighbours David and Jacqui were really welcoming, giving us a really useful insight into places to visit and things that were happening. Everyone around was welcoming and very friendly and it really felt like we just slotted into the local community. Just one thing to be aware of; parking outside the cottage involves some tight reversing manoeuvres around a couple of parked cars, though anyone without sensors (and ideally cameras) can always park nearby rather than right outside the door. We definitely recommend a visit to the Sun Dancer restaurant on the beach front; really tasty food (seafood is fabulous, steak night on a Thursday) which you can eat whilst looking out over the beach and sea. They are apparently booked up weeks in advance but usually have some cancellations on the day and we got one of those. Nairn itself is ideally placed to visit loads of interesting places including Findhorn, Loch Ness, Culloden and the Black Isle; all are within easy travelling distance. Finally we would like to thank Daska for being the absolutely perfect host. Because of the heat we asked whether there was any chance of a fan being provided; one was delivered within hours of us asking. And in an embarrassing oversight we left behind some dirty washing in a carrier bag. Daska not only forwarded it on to us, but gave it a wash first! Talk about going above and beyond. We heartily recommend Griffin Cottage and gorgeous Nairn for a great holiday.

Very snug, comfortable and well equipped/appointed. Bike shed was a real bonus for us. Wood burning stove was easy to use and well provisioned. Beds were very comfortable. Bathroom and kitchen are bright, modern and a pleasure to use. We cooked some of our meals in the cottage and the only item we looked for and missed was a sieve. I mention this not as a complaint more an example of how well appointed the kitchen was. To stay here is a real treat. I was left with the impression that the owners wanted us to have a nice time and enjoy our accommodation. Big thank you!

Nairn beach is 3 minutes away on foot, the High Street is 5 minutes. Restaurants, and cafes, local ice cream, fish tacos, all within easy walking distance. The owners have done a wonderful job renovating the cottage and provisioning it -- lots of towels (bath and beach), and an impressive array of kitchenware. The owner was most helpful and the neighbors invited us to join their Jubilee celebration . Who could ask for more?

Thank you Gail for the lovely review. It was lovely to meet you and we are so glad your family enjoyed their stay over the Jubilee. • "This is a lovely property to stay in with a high standard of fittings, comfort and cleanliness."

The central heating worked well in a cool, wet, late spring week and a log burner was available with plenty of fuel. Two problems might be issues. Anyone over five feet six may hit their head in the bathroom window space and parking for a larger vehicle may be an issue as explained by the owners in their information. Overall, our stay was good value for money and their are two excellent restaurants within five minutes walk in the town.

Thank you Stephen for taking the time to review your stay at Griffin Cottage. Unfortunately the historical construction of the Cottages in the Fishertown area date back to the 1800's in some cases and the ceiling heights etc are part and parcel of these dwellings. With that said very careful consideration was given in the renovation process to the placements of the various utilities in the bathroom and we tried very hard to maximise the limited space we have but we take on board your observations and will endeavour to make this clearer to other guests in the future. We appreciate all feedback and thank you for taking the time to write the review. Property Owner

We had a lovely week here and thoroughly enjoyed using the cottage as a base to explore the region. We were a little disappointed that the TV doesn’t show terrestrial channels and felt this was not made clear in the description. Not a major problem but a minor irritation. The cottage is very small and was really only just big enough for the three of us. It would also have been helpful to have some advice and guidance about the local area eg amenities, walks, cafes, restaurants and tourist attractions. That said we like recommend the cottage and we had a lovely stay.

Dear Helen Thank you for taking the time to review Griffin Cottage. We appreciate all feedback and have taken onboard your kind observations. We have now included information in the welcome pack for local amenities and various local activities etc.. We will look at getting terrestrial TV onto the Smart TV we have already there in the future. Unfortunately most of the original houses in the Fishertown area are of the Cottage variety and we have done our utmost to maximise the space we have without destroying the Cottages cosy charm and character. We are lucky enough to be one of the few places that has its own parking space right at the back door though. Once again thank you for staying at Griffin Cottage. Property Owner
