  • "Beautiful cosy cottage, well equipped with everything you need."

Super comfy beds and relaxing lounge with log burner. Welcoming and friendly owners, who provided some additional information for things to do and some delicious homemade bread. Our little one enjoyed watching the red squirrels in the garden and the sheep's over the road. We all had a great holiday. Thank you.

We love the wonderful wildflower garden and the peace and tranquility. Great walks on your doorstep and lots to explore further afield. The cottage has absolutely everything you need and really does feel like a home from home! The homemade bread on arrival is a lovely touch and it's so nice to be warmly welcomed back by David and Sally.

  • "We have just returned from a lovely stay here, a great place for exploring plenty to see and do!"

Balmoral was a highlight which is about an hour away lovely scenery on the way there too. Dunkeld is a lovely little town lovely places to eat, buy fresh products and nice little craft/art shops. The cottage is very well stocked and the kitchen has everything you could need. Very clean, lovely decor and very comfy beds. Stairs are a little tricky with it being an old cottage and if there was more than two adults staying at the cottage you'd struggle to be comfortable with the furniture in the lounge, OK for two adults. Garden although has nice elements it is very overlooked by the neighbours and the wild flower garden was very 'wild' quite overwhelmingly so, and taking up most of the garden space. Overall nice cottage but probably not one we would return to.

  • "Taigh a Ghobha was perfect."

It was in a beautiful and very peaceful location with lovely walks close to the cottage. It was very clean and super comfortable and the kitchen was extremely well equipped with everything you could possibly need for cooking. A real home away from home. The garden was a wonderful area to sit and enjoy the peaceful environment and we were entertained every day by a pair of cheeky red Squirrels. Sally and David were so helpful with suggesting places to visit. They even hand delivered the most delicious loaf of freshly baked sourdough bread when we arrived. Dunkeld was only a short drive away with its fabulous cafes and restaurants. We would highly recommend this beautiful cottage to anyone wanting to explore this amazing part of Scotland.

Although it's next to a road, there is little traffic and it's in a very peaceful area, ideal to use as a base to explore Perthshire. Pretty garden with Red Squirrels as regular visitors if you keep their feeder topped up. David and Sally were lovely hosts and the sourdough loaf which David baked was excellent. We would thoroughly recommend!

  • "Taigh a Ghobha is a fantastic cottage set in beautiful surroundings, where a lot of care and thought has gone into making it a very comfortable home from home."

Two weeks of blue Perthshire skies in a frosty January allowed us to explore this beautiful area and different walks every day. Returning to the cottage was a joy, always toasty warm, we thoroughly enjoyed the wood burner and appreciated the great log supply too. The cottage is very cosy, tastefully furnished with quality fittings and everything we needed to feel very pampered. We especially appreciated the freshly baked bread and goodies on arrival and suggestions on walks and places to explore from David & Sally. Our dog Sandy (golden retriever) also enjoyed the enclosed garden and made some friends with the red squirrels that visited the garden and Mr Pheasant too. Would love to return to Taigh a Ghobha again and explore this area in another season.

Very kind of David and Sally to pop in to welcome us, explain a few things about the cottage and answer our questions about local walks etc. They also sent some specific walk routes. That was very kind! The facilities in the cottage are very good and it's very cosy. The snow and ice made running difficult, but walking was just about ok, weather very seasonal for December! With the snowy backdrop, some views of the surrounding area were out of this world.

  • "We just wanted to let you know what outstanding host Sally and David were during our stay."

Considerable effort had clearly gone into making the cottage a lovely place to stay but over and above that the warm welcome we received (complete with delicious home made bread, fresh from the oven) combined with the care we received during our visit following an issue with the stove was wonderful and very much appreciated.

  • "A lovely cottage in a very quiet part of Perthshire."

It had everything we needed; is really well equipped and very cosy; especially when you get the log burner going! We met the owners David & Sally who made us really welcome. We stayed for a week in June and the wildflower garden was just starting to bloom, so with the visiting birds and red squirrels (next door has a fantastic array of feeders); it was a real haven for wildlife. There's lots of tracks and paths locally to walk on where you'll see even more wildlife - deer, hares, raptors. It's a great area to explore with some lovely towns and villages; beautiful countryside, lochs & iconic mountains within easy reach. But if you want a quiet, peaceful time, just sit in the garden and enjoy the surroundings. Wouldn't hesitate to go back or recommend to others!

About the location

DUNKELD

Dunkeld 4 miles; Blairgowrie 12 miles; Pitlochry 13 miles; Perth 14 miles.

The River Tay flows through the small town of Dunkeld and there are plenty of places to enjoy the views, either from the cathedral gardens or from the Taybank bar where you might be lucky enough to hear some impromptu music performed. The town itself dates from the 9th century and boasts a wealth of history from the Dark and Middle Ages to more recent history with Thomas Telford’s bridge over the Tay. The forests surrounding Dunkeld and nearby Birnam are known as Perthshire Big Tree Country and are celebrated in Shakespeare’s “Scottish Play”. The Hermitage is a National Trust site of beautiful forest which contains Ossian’s Hall of Mirrors, a folly built as a tribute to the 3rd century blind poet Ossian on a rocky outcrop near the Black Linn waterfalls. With the Loch Of The Lowes nature Reserve nearby and also the Victorian village of Birnam with its famous Birnam Oak and a Beatrix Potter exhibition marking her regular visits to the village, this area is one of the most spectacular and varied in Scotland and well worth a visit.
