• "She'll cottage is one of the best finished and relaxing cottages we have stayed in."

  The facilities are just as described , with great views and easy access to the wonderful beach that our dog couldn't get enough of. Enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back next year

• "The best cottage we’ve ever stayed in, beautifully done out with sea views from every window, very warm and cosy on colder evenings."

  As for the location… wow!! Our vizsla loved the garden and going down our private steps to the beach. A lovely village , very friendly. Recommend the Kilmarnock arms for food and the newly opened Harbour dunes cafe. Bob and Morag are lovely and will gladly help with any information on the area, thank you again for a fabulous stay, Nicky, Steve and Tteaclexxx

• "The pictures of Shell Cottage do not do the property justice."

  Upon arrival we were so impressed by the Cottage, garden and whole location. The garden with private access to the beach and summer house were such a great addition to the cottage and we spent a huge amount of time there. The facilities provided were of the highest standard and as a family with 2 children there was everything we needed to have a fantastic holiday. We can't wait to return to Shell Cottage.

• "Stayed in this immaculatley clean and well equipped cottage in Cruden Bay last week."

  Each room has it s own beautiful little personality. This is one of the best cottages we have ever booked over the years across Scotland. It has amazing views straight onto the bay from each window and a short walking distance to this stunning beach. It also has an enclosed garden with a summer house to watch the waves and sunsets. Certainly will be back.

• "This is an ideal property for a couple with the views we wanted for a genuine week off - particularly from the table/summerhouse across the road."

  They have made the best use of the limited space, maximising the kitchen/diner and lounge. The local shop and Kilmarnock Arms gives you all you need without leaving that end of the Bay. Fabulous beach within yards. Very minor items. A hook/s on the back of the bathroom door would be a real help in the limited space. A nightlight for the stairs would be good.

We were a little surprised to read the 2 minor issues highlighted. There are 2 x hooks located on the side of the shower. The reason they are positioned there and not behind the door is to ensure the door opens fully. • "FAB-U-LOUS!"

  !!! Cottage was extremely comfortable (beds and sofa super comfy), extremely well equipped throughout. Wonderful panoramic views over the bay. Off road parking was such a bonus. Fantastic garden opposite with use of summerhouse which provided us with the ideal setting to watch the sun set each night. Direct access to the beach from the garden was a real luxury and our little Scottie dog just loved snuffling around the seaweed first thing in the morning. The owners (Bob and Morag) were friendly, professional and helpful, imparting local knowledge and information when requested which was very welcome. Nothing was too much trouble, they were an absolute delight!!! We spent two weeks at Shell Cottage and plan to return next year.

• "We really enjoyed our stay in Shell cottage."

  Such a peaceful place, the cottage was well equipped and the owners Rob and Morag were extremely helpful and friendly throughout our stay. The highlight for us was the garden area and Summer house. We spent every evening enjoying the garden with amazing views across the bay and the direct private beach access was a huge bonus. I would definitely recommend staying here. Only minor downside for me and my dodgy back was the steep stairs and coombed ceilings in the bedrooms but this did not stop me for thoroughly enjoying our stay.

From the moment we arrived, the cottage welcomed us with its warm ambiance and inviting atmosphere. Nestled just a short walk from the beach, it offered the best of both worlds – the serenity of the countryside and the allure of the nearby coastline. The cottage itself was a haven of comfort and style. The interior had a homely charm with its beautiful decor, creating a soothing environment for relaxation. There was a view of the sea from each window, which was stunning. The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the proximity to the beach. A leisurely stroll led us to the sandy shores, where we enjoyed breath-taking views of the Scottish coastline. The children loved how close we were and we could easily nip back to the cottage to make some lunch to take back to the beach, our dog was more than happy with all that space to run around in. The cottage was really cosy of an evening and really felt like a home from home, and waking up to the sound of waves in the distance was fantastic. The attention to detail by the cottage owners did not go unnoticed. Thoughtful touches, from cozy blankets to local recommendations, loads of extra towels etc. They really had though of everything. In summary, our time at Shell cottage was nothing short of amazing. It seamlessly blended comfort, charm, and convenience, offering a memorable retreat for our family. Whether you seek a peaceful getaway or a base for coastal exploration, this cottage is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. We left with hearts full of gratitude and memories that will last a lifetime. You know it’s somewhere special when your children ask you every few weeks if we can go back to the same place again!

  Cruden Bay is stunning, and the cottage is in a perfect location with wonderful views across the bay and fabulous walks on the doorstep. The village is very friendly too, with a shop and pub just around the corner. A perfect place to stay!

• "We have literally just returned home after a wonderful break at Shell Cottage, from arriving until leaving we thoroughly enjoyed our break in the glorious sunshine."

  Shell cottage had absolutely everything that we needed for our stay including a most thoughtful welcome pack which was appreciated, it was spotlessly clean from top to bottom and the stunning views over the beach from the garden were better than perfect. Hopefully we can return again soon, with grateful thanks to Robert and Morag the owners for their kindness during our stay and I would recommend Shell Cottage to anyone looking for a top quality holiday cottage.
