  • "Wonderful house set on the edge of Tomintoul."

The location of the house allows for peace and quiet with wonderful views. Lots of wildlife to see at dusk and dawn. Spotlessly clean on our arrival, Very well equipped with everything you will need. Internet is fast!. I would highly recommend the property to anyone exploring Speyside (and beyond). Complimentary Tea, coffee and biscuits was a nice touch as we had a long journey from Germany. Highly recommend

  • "This is a beautiful house at a corner, so to speak, of the village; thus taking advantage of the splendid open views and also just a short walk to the village facilities."

Being located just south of Inverness, it is also a convenient starting point for the North Coast 500 and access to the Cairngorms National Park. Highly recommended.

  • "An absolute gem, so glad we found Otakaro!"

Spotlessly clean cottage, tranquil and beautifully furnished. We felt instantly at home, the kitchen is well equipped and the beds, chairs and sofa were all very comfortable. Tomintoul is a pleasant village, surrounded by beautiful countryside with lovely walks on the doorstep. Enjoyed watching hares in the fields below the house, and seeing siskin, redpoll and all manner of birdlife in the meadowed area behind the back door! We really didn't want to leave, and hope to return again one day!

  • "The cottage is furnished to a high standard ."

its in a super spot wild life on view very quite ,the village as plenty of facilities,We found the beds uncomfy the tv hard to work but we are of the older generation no clock

I am sorry you found the beds to be uncomfortable; this is the first time this has been flagged as an issue - we actually love them all! There were instructions about using the TV in the folders as well as on the welcome letter attachment. We would have helped with this if you had reached out to us - our contact details are available on all correspondence. Clocks should have been working on the microwave and the cooker so apologies if this wasn’t the case. We would be interested to know why you only gave 75% for cleanliness - our caretakers are invariably meticulous. So pleased that despite these issues you enjoyed your stay. Kindest regards, Joanne & David Property Owner

The property is warm, comfortable and has lovely views across fields and hills. Dave and Jo were quick to respond to any questions we had and we felt very welcome. Thank you! The Tomintoul folk are friendly, offering advice on where to visit and what to look out for. I can see why many end up staying and making home in this beautiful part of Scotland.

  • "Absolutely perfect stay."

We are already talking about coming back. The placement of the house is really nice and the views are lovely! Wi-Fi is very fast and I was able to work from home if I needed. We loved the thick blankets and the two lots of shower rooms. The decor was absolutely stunning and I loved the room upstairs with the sofa and TV - very cosy! I liked that they provided the basics like oil, salt and pepper etc..and a small welcome pack. However it would have been nice to have a washing tablet or liquid for the washing machine and as this was provided for the dish washer but not to wash clothes.

  • "Staying at Otakaro in Tomintoul was fantastic, one of the best properties we have stayed in over the years, we couldn't have asked for a better place for our week in the Cairngorms and Highlands."

Incredibly clean and inviting to come back each day after a long trek up the mountains. Great base for exploring, we climbed Ben Nevis and Ben Macdui, drove to Loch Ness and Cullen on the coast. To top it off we drove to Balmoral Castle on the way home and afterwards King Charles was driving behind us through the mountains! Unforgettable memories made in a beautiful place in Scotland. Thanks Otakaro, we didn't want to leave but we will be back next year.
